A LOT of REALLY GOOD QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS about the proposed millage rate increase are coming up. PLEASE plan to attend at least one of the upcoming meetings.
Millage Rate Update: Upcoming Meetings
Recently, Mayor Mary Robichaux announced a proposed millage rate increase (property tax rate) for 2026. The proposed rate is tentative and will be formally voted on by City Council on September 28, 2026. In the meantime, there are several opportunities for residents to learn more, ask questions, and share your thoughts. We encourage you to take part in whichever works best for you.
Here's how you can stay informed and get involved:
📅Mon, Sept. 14, 7:00 p.m. — First Reading at City Council Meeting
City Hall, 38 Hill Street
Millage rate presented as an agenda item, with staff presentation and public comment (five minutes per speaker).
📅Wed, Sept. 16, 6:00–7:30 p.m. — Town Hall
Eagles Nest Church, 2342 Holcomb Bridge Rd.
Brief presentation and public Q & A session dedicated to the millage rate.
📅Mon, Sept. 21, 6:00 p.m. — Public Hearing
City Hall, 38 Hill Street
State-mandated public hearing with opportunity for public comment.
📅Mon, Sept. 28, 7:00 p.m. — Second Reading and Adoption at City Council Meeting
City Hall, 38 Hill Street
Millage rate presented as an agenda item, with staff presentation and public comment (five minutes per speaker). City Council will formally vote on the rate during this meeting.
