The Boston Police Department was the first organized police force in the country (1854) and one of the first departments to form an emerald society within it's ranks. Spawned in a local Irish tavern in the South End section of Boston, JJ Foley's was the gathering place after the first half to help solve the problems of the world and come down a little from the job before going home for the evening. We drew up our by-laws and were chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a non-profit organization. For the first ten years we held our monthly meetings at VFW Post 1018 until we purchased our present building at 10 Birch Street, formerly a bank. Over the years we have contributed to many worthwhile charities here and abroad. We have found time to make our Society known throughout the world and, naturally, Ireland. Patrick's Day Parade in many cities around the country including our own in Boston. We continue to show "Pride in our Heritage".

We lost one of our long time members and member of our Honor Guard today. Charlie was a gentleman and a friend to all, he will be missed by our membership. Our condolences go out to his friends and family at this difficult time. We will be sure to raise a glass in his memory at this Thursday's meeting.

This Thursday September 3rd is our Monthly Meeting. Doors open at 7pm and the meeting will start at 8pm. Red Sox vs the Orioles will be on at the Garda Pub.
Scholarship forms have been emailed & we will have some on hand to fill out Thursday for the Scholarship Drawing next month. Looking forward to seeing a lot of old faces and hopefully some new ones!!!
