In den meetings and pack meetings, Cub Scouts make new friends, play purposeful games, and learn new things. Dens usually meet two times a month, except for lion dens, who meet once a month. All the dens in the pack come together once

a month for a pack meeting, where scouts are recognized for their achievements and have the opportunity to perform skits and songs. Message for information if you would like to visit! Outdoor Adventures

Cub Scout families have opportunities to go camping and to participate in outdoor adventures. Lessons learned in the outdoors help to develop a lifelong respect for the environment. Special Den and Pack Events

Thursday: departure day

Just to make things exciting, a bat in cabin 2 allowed Plainsman Village to again be woken up by the lovely sound of screaming scouts at 6:00 am. 😅 Over breakfast, the general sentiment was camp was a great experience, but home sounds really nice about now.

As a leader, it is incredible to witness the growth that happens with scouts this age over just a few short days. They are learning that they are not the center of the universe and that their actions affect other people. Many great conversations were had, between scouts, between adults, and between both. Both adults and scouts were able to make mistakes and come out stronger on the other side.

I am so proud of all the Rattling Rattlesnakes of Patrol 4 for persevering through challenges, for embracing each other and working together, even though they were from 3 different packs. While there were definintely some difficult moments, I hope these scouts look back on this week with fondness for years to come.

Wednesday: last full day! (Part 1)

Wednesday morning, Patrol 4 returned from their night under the stars, and got to eat breakfast and attend morning colors in their jammies. Their first station of the day was up at the BB range with me. They did a great job following instructions. For their last station rotations, the Rattlesnakes had patrol time, so they went further up the hill to find some "lost cows," aka cairnes. Finding all 6 earned them a neat cowboy hat neckerchief slide.

After lunch, there was some free time, and then it was time for campwide competition! We had scouts compete at BB, slingshot, escape room, and stool competitions. Then everyone convened at the pool for The Big Splash! Sadly, none of our scouts won the Big Splash, but they all were great sports and spectators. It was so refreshing to see everyone cheer on all the competitors.

The games continued after dinner with closing campfire, where Rattlesnakes participated in limbo, basketball, lasso, knot, ice block pass, and Deputy Debbie Says competitions. I participated in the adult leader danceoff, but alas, I did not win. Throught the evening, winners of the earlier competitions were announced. To close the night, Jumbo (the big screen) came out to showcase a slideshow from the week's activites.
