Calling all Alumni! Meet us this Saturday at our Real Men Kook for Kids event at Sunset Park! We would love to meet you all and catch up! The event starts at 10 a.m. and we are there until 2 p.m. Hope to see you there!

📣Attention all foodies and families! The Rocky Mount Alumni (NC) Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and our Boys & Girls Clubs of The Tar River Region is hosting our annual Real Men Kook for Kids event at Sunset Park in Rocky Mount from 10 AM to 2 PM. 🍴

Real Men Kook for Kids is an opportunity for young people to spend meaningful time with positive men in our community. This event is for the whole family and there will be free food for all kids under 18. 🍔🍟Also, the splash park will be open for all kids to enjoy for FREE! ☀️🌊 And that's not all! To make your visit even sweeter, we are offering FREE ice cream to all kids who come and play! 🍦

While the kids play, we have some fun for the adults during our Sausage Kook-Off. This is a chance to taste some of the best sausage dishes in the area as several teams of cooks bring their best chef skills to the table for bragging rights for 2023. It is only $5 to be a taster at the event and all proceeds go to our Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region. 🌭

So bring the family down for a day of fun! We can't wait to see you there! 😎🌞 🎉

Calling all BGCTRR Club Alumni! Job Opportunity!

Are you a BGCTRR or BGCA Club Alumni and looking for a summer job during the break, currently attending an HBCU and interested in Public Health and/or Public Policy? Here is your opportunity to get some additional cash during the summer.

If you meet the above qualifications and looking for a paid summer internship, this is for you! The HBCUs/MSIs Internship program, in coordination with the Division of Public Health, is a component of the department’s workforce development initiative that encourages college students to seek careers in public health and government.

All interns will be paid $20 per hour, with the exception of Job 1, which will be paid $25 per hour. The internship will run from June 5 to Aug 11. Interns will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Remote and hybrid options are available. Applications are due by Friday, May 12. Positions pay $20-25/hour.

⛳** Exciting News**⛳

ACDi North Carolina will be hosting their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Belmont Lake Golf Club. All proceeds will benefit our Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region.

All proceeds will go towards supporting young people that the organization serves throughout the year through our afterschool and summer youth development programs.

We are currently seeking golfers for this event. The cost of golf is $100 per person and $375 per foursome. Included with the cost will be breakfast and lunch and a chance to win a car!

Today is a huge day for our organization! We are traveling to Raleigh today with our Youth of the Year winner, Nathan Sherrod to cheer him on as he prepares to compete in the North Carolina State Youth of the Year Competition. We are very proud of Nathan. Send words of encouragement and support in the comments as he competes today.

We love to see our Alumni give back. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region Alumni Tierra, local loctician and hair stylist of Urban Re-Twist located at 173 South Winstead Avenue here in Rocky Mount, ensured our candidates looked sharp for the Youth of the Year event.

Boys & Girls Club Alumni often donate their time, talent and treasure to the same club that helped shape who they are today. We appreciate Tierra for giving back to her club!

Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region's premier youth leadership program, honoring extraordinary young people and their achievements in leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.

Our program includes:

Thank you to the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce for featuring our Youth of the Year event in this week's news break. As stated by Ron, our CEO, we have three candidates competing for the highest honor you can receive as a club member.

Join us on March 16th at the Booker T. Washington Theater for the Youth of the Year competition at 6 p.m. Haven't RSVP'd? No worries. The Youth of the Year event is a free event and all are welcome!

People always have that one person who potentially changed their life. Someone who always encouraged you to pursue your dreams and never give up. Mr. Sharpe was that someone for The Boys Club Members. Check out the video below about the caring club staff that helped mold the members for life.

As we are getting close to the end of Black History Month, we wanted to share the rich history of the Rocky Mount Boys Club. As our CEO stated, the Boys Club of Rocky Mount is Black History.

Over time, history can change. For our organization, every alumnus has a different opinion about where the first Boys Club at Rocky Mount started. Some of our members say the first club was near Hillsdale park, others say it was at the Albermale Recreation Center. Check out our video to finally get the answer.
