Just Foods Collaborative was honored to attend the 2026 Northeast Regional Food Gathering in Rocky Mount alongside so many incredible organizations, farmers, and community leaders working to strengthen food systems across our region.
We shared space with amazing organizations including RAFI, AMEXCAN, Working Landscapes, Cooperative Extension, local farmers, community gardeners, conservationists, waste management professionals, advocates, and many others who are making meaningful impacts throughout Northeast North Carolina.
Throughout the day, we participated in partnership-building activities, explored the power of storytelling, and learned more about policy and advocacy efforts that can help create stronger, more equitable food systems.
One of the greatest reminders from gatherings like this is that none of us are doing this work alone. It is inspiring to be in a room full of people who share a commitment to building a more fair, just, sustainable, and community-centered future. Together, our local efforts create regional momentum.
We look forward to the next opportunity to gather and see how much progress has been made, while continuing to explore new partnerships and collaborations that support our communities.
A special thank you to Community Food Strategies for organizing such an impactful event, Thornes Chapel Baptist Church for hosting, Larema Coffeeshop and Golden Organic Farm for food and drinks, and our Executive Director, James Mercer, for welcoming participants to Rocky Mount and helping set the tone for a day of connecting, sharing, and learning.
