Pray this specifically. Speak to what you see in them.

Lord,
I come before You today with what I know is inside my child.
The specific thing. The thing they do effortlessly that other children work hard for. The way they light up when they're in their element. The strange and particular gift that doesn't fit neatly into any box but is undeniably, unmistakably theirs.

I cover that today.
Because the enemy knows what's inside them too. And he has been working to bury it. Through discouragement. Through comparison. Through the message that what they're good at doesn't matter or won't be enough.
Let that gift find its full expression. Let it grow in the right environment. Send the right teachers, the right opportunities, the right doors at the right time to make room for what You placed in them.

And let me never be the person who accidentally clips their wings by trying to redirect them toward something safer or more practical.

Let me see what You see when I look at my child. And let me champion it loudly, consistently, for as long as they need me to.

For the parent who wonders if their own wounds will become their child's wounds.

God,
This fear is the one that lives the deepest.
That I am too broken. That what happened to me.... what I carried in, what I haven't fully healed from is already leaking out into my child in ways I can't see or stop. That despite everything I am trying to do differently, I am still passing something down that I swore would end with me.
I need You to speak to this tonight. Not with a platitude, with truth.

Because the truth is You have never required wholeness as a prerequisite to use someone. Every person You worked through in scripture was cracked. Broken. Still healing. Still growing. Still figuring it out.

You don't wait until we're finished to work through us.

Yes, keep healing me. I want that. I need that. But don't let the enemy use my in-progress healing as evidence that I'm failing my child. My brokenness is not the end of their story. Your redemption is. I am a work in progress raising a work in progress and You are the God who makes beautiful things out of exactly that.

Pray this boldly. They will need this.

Father,

I don't want to raise a child who never falls. I want to raise a child who knows how to get back up.

So today I pray over their resilience. The internal architecture that holds when things break. The part of them that doesn't quit when the first hard thing comes or the second or the tenth.

Life will disappoint them. People will let them down. Doors will close. Plans will fall apart. And I will not always be in the room when it happens.

So build something in them now that holds later.

Let every small setback they face today be teaching them something they'll need for a bigger moment down the road. Let the losses develop character. Let the waiting develop patience. Let the hard things develop the kind of faith that isn't shaken because it has already been tested.

Romans 5:3-4 — suffering produces perseverance. Perseverance, character. Character, hope.

I'm asking for all of it for my child. Build them for the long game.

For the parent who loves their child and still misses themselves.

Lord,
This is a prayer I haven't said out loud before. Because it feels like it shouldn't exist. Like wanting it makes me a bad parent.

But here it is.

Some nights I miss who I was before. Before the responsibility. Before my time stopped being mine. Before I poured myself so completely into someone else that I look up and wonder where I went.

I love my child with everything in me. That's not the question.

The question is, is there still room for me?

Remind me tonight that loving my child well doesn't require disappearing. That the person I was before they came still matters. That my dreams, my gifts, my personhood didn't expire the day I became a parent.

Help me grieve what changed without resenting what came. Help me hold both the love for them and the love for myself without guilt.

You made me a whole person before You made me a parent. Remind me of her tonight.

In Jesus' name. Amen.
