Every six minutes, a patient at Mayo Clinic needs a transfusion of blood or blood products. A simple blood donation can save the life of a child with leukemia, restore the strength of a cancer patient or provide a critical transfusion to an accident victim. There is no substitute for this life-saving gift, so our patients rely upon the caring spirit of blood donors like you. Volunteer donors are especially needed during the summer months, when an increase in elective and emergency surgeries means the demand for blood and blood products is also higher. Please consider making an appointment to donate blood today, and encourage friends, co-workers and family members to do so as well. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at Dogs Downtown last Saturday! 🐾

We loved meeting so many amazing dogs and their humans while sharing the lifesaving impact of blood donation.

Just like people, dogs can need blood transfusions during emergencies, surgeries, and serious illnesses. That’s why both human and canine blood donors play such an important role in saving lives when they’re needed most.
