Serving the Youth, Families and Communities of the Greater Riverview area where friendships, belonging and achievement is in our nature.

Camp Cristina is a 65 acre outdoor center which hosts day camps for rising 1st through 10th graders. The natural world provides an almost "fool-proof" place to create new memories, gain a new vocabulary of experiences, and new friends to share them with. Camp Cristina is more than an outdoor experience. We want to build friendships and self-confidence throughout the summer that will last a lifetime. Camp provides a place where campers feel accepted, trusted, and supported, which enables them to trust and support themselves and others.

This Thanksgiving, 16 runners from YMCA Camp Cristina's cross country team will take part in the Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble 5K to support kids recovering from cancer.

The race helps fund Thriver's Club, a 12-week YMCA program that helps childhood cancer survivors rebuild strength, confidence and connections through physical activity.

As the team trains for race day, they're learning that running isn't just about personal records. It's also about teamwork, perseverance and making a difference in the lives of others.

We're proud of these young runners for showing how their efforts can make a positive impact in our community.

While most youth cross country runners focus on personal records and race-day results, members of the YMCA Camp Cristina cross country team have an additional goal this fall: They're running to support their peers recovering from cancer.
