Our Seeds of Hope Web Gal has been doing this race for YEARS. In the early days, she ran with her running group while her family slept in. 😂

But for the past few years, she and her husband have walked it together - chatting with friends and neighbors, taking pictures and enjoying every minute.

Then they meet up with neighbors for a little post-Trot brunch before everyone heads off to family, food, football and Thanksgiving festivities.

And that's what we love about this race:
**It's not just about the race.**

It's about starting Thanksgiving with your community.

WAIT...THE TURKEY TROT STARTED ALL OF THIS?! 😲🦃

Okay, here's a little Seeds of Hope history you may not know...

Back in 2009, the very first FishHawk Turkey Trot was organized in just two months.

The goal was to attract 100 runners.

Instead?

450 PEOPLE SHOWED UP. 🎉

And apparently, FishHawk decided we were onto something.

➡️ 2010: More than 1,400 runners
➡️ 2011: More than 2,000
➡️ 2012: More than 2,500
➡️ 2013: Nearly 2,800

And in recent years, we've seen around 3,000 registered runners!

But here's the REALLY cool part...

🌱 The Turkey Trot helped create Seeds of Hope.

Seeds of Hope was formed from proceeds of the Turkey Trot, and today the organization uses that support to help provide food assistance to local families throughout the year.

So that Thanksgiving morning tradition?

It's more than running.
It's more than turkey costumes.
It's more than crossing the finish line before dinner.
It's part of the reason Seeds of Hope exists. 💚

The backpacks have been packed, the first days of school are underway, and while Florida may still feel VERY much like summer, we all know what happens next...

Here at Seeds of Hope, we're excited about everything ahead.

We recently celebrated an incredible Backpack & School Supply season, and now we're looking forward to the next chapter. Because one of the things we love most about this community is that the caring doesn't stop after one event.

It keeps growing. 🌱

🎒📚 **WAIT...SCHOOL IS ALREADY BACK?!**

The backpacks are packed. The pencils are sharpened. The calendars are filling up.

And before we all disappear into the back-to-school whirlwind, we just want to say something really important:

**LOOK WHAT OUR COMMUNITY DID.** 💚

Students. Parents. Local businesses. Families. Community groups. Volunteers. Donors.

So many people came together to make our annual Backpack & School Supply program a HUGE success - and we couldn't be more grateful.

But here's what we love most:

It wasn't just about backpacks.

It was about a community saying, **"We have a little extra, so let's share it."**

A little time.
A little money.
A few school supplies.
A few cans of food.
A few hours of helping hands.

And when a whole community does that?

**It becomes something BIG.** 🌱

Now that school is back, we're looking ahead to all the ways we can continue helping local families throughout the year.

Our Thursday afternoon and evening volunteer spots almost always fill up, and that says so much about this incredible community.

We truly appreciate every student, parent, adult, and returning volunteer who signs up to help each week!

Before the evening distribution begins, there's plenty happening behind the scenes- and we'd love a few more helping hands during those daytime hours.

🎆 The fireworks are over.
