☀️ Summer is here.

The kids are out of school. The days are longer. Family dinners, backyard cookouts, vacations, and making memories fill our calendars.

Tonight, we'd like to ask you to think about something simple.

Pull up one extra chair to your dinner table.

Just imagine it sitting there.

Who would fill that empty seat?
A friend?
A neighbor?
Someone going through a difficult season?
Someone you miss?

At Seeds of Hope, we meet families every week who are doing their best but struggling to keep food on the table—especially during the summer months when children are home from school and grocery bills increase.

That empty seat is a reminder that food is about more than meals.

It's about belonging.
It's about community.
It's about knowing someone cares.

If your family has been blessed this summer, consider helping a family that could use a little extra support. Whether it's a donation, volunteer time, or a few non-perishable food items, every act of kindness helps create hope.

❤️ Because there's always room for one more at the table.

🌞💚 THE $5 SUMMER CHALLENGE IS HERE! 💚🌞

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles - we have a fun summer activity idea for the kids!

The next time you're grocery shopping, hand your child $5 and make them the official "Community Hero Shopper."

Their challenge:

🛒 Find the BEST food donations they can buy with their budget.

Can they find a sale?

Can they compare prices?

Can they stretch $5 into several items that could help local families?

Along the way they'll practice math, budgeting, decision-making, and generosity - all while helping neighbors right here in our community.

The goal isn't how much they spend.

The goal is learning that even small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference.

When you're finished, bring the donations to Seeds of Hope and let your child know they helped feed local families.

👇 Tell us below:

What could YOUR child buy for $5 to help someone in need?

As Memorial Day reminds us to honor sacrifice and service, it also reminds us how important community truly is. 💛

At Seeds of Hope, we serve local families every week who are working hard, doing their best, and still struggling to keep food on the table.

Sometimes people need help not because they failed - but because life became heavier than expected.

A medical bill.
Rising grocery costs.
A lost job.
Caring for children or aging parents.
Unexpected hardship can happen to anyone.

If you have a little extra this week, consider:
🥫 Donating a few non-perishable items
⏰ Volunteering a few hours
💵 Giving a small monetary donation

Even the smallest act of kindness can help a neighbor feel seen, supported, and hopeful again.

Thank you for continuing to help us serve our LOCAL community. Together, we truly make a difference.

We’ve noticed something interesting lately…

Our 4–7 PM Thursday volunteer slots? Mostly filled with amazing high school students (we love to see it 👏).

But our earlier shifts on Thursdays? A little quieter than we’d like.

And those hours are important.

Between 10 AM and 7 PM, we serve members of our community who may be navigating job changes, rising costs, or simply trying to keep up with everyday life. Food insecurity doesn’t always look like what people imagine - it can affect anyone, at any time.

That’s where you come in.

If you have a flexible schedule - even just once this month - consider stepping into one of these time slots:
✨ 10–1
✨ 12–3
✨ 3–6

Volunteering isn’t just about giving time. It’s about connection, perspective, and being part of something that quietly makes a difference.

You might walk in thinking you’re helping others… and walk out realizing it gave something back to you too.

🌱 **What if one act of kindness could help two futures at once?**

That is exactly what happens every day at **Seeds of Hope**.

Since 2009, Seeds of Hope has served our community with a mission that is simple, powerful, and life-changing:

❤️ **Provide food assistance to local families in need**
🎓 **Provide meaningful community service opportunities for students**

When someone donates food, gives financially, volunteers time, or supports events like the FishHawk Turkey Trot... something amazing happens.

A family receives groceries during a difficult season.

A child has food through our Backpack of Hope program when school meals are unavailable.

Holiday meals reach tables at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

And students in our community learn compassion, responsibility, leadership, and service while earning hours that can help with scholarships like **Florida Bright Futures**.

That means every can donated… every dollar given… every hour volunteered… creates a ripple effect far beyond what most people realize.

It feeds today.
It builds tomorrow.
It plants hope.

We are incredibly grateful for every person who has helped Seeds of Hope grow through the years.

If you have ever donated, volunteered, raced, shared a post, or encouraged others to help… **you are part of this story.**

🌱 Together, we are making a difference right here in our own community.

If you’d like to support the mission, we always welcome donations, volunteers, and helping hands. https://sohopefl.org/take-action/

**Ever thought about how easy it could be to help a family in need… while doing your normal shopping? 🛒💛**

Here’s a simple idea we LOVE right now:

Next time you’re at Target, Walmart, Walgreens - or your favorite grocery store - grab *just a couple extra items.*

That’s it. No pressure. No big commitment.

Then, whenever you’re near one of our **Seeds of Hope donation locations**, you can drop them off:

✨ Dental Care at Fishhawk Commons
✨ Ace Hardware (Riverview)
✨ Citizens Bank & Trust (Valrico)
✨ Eaton Realty
✨ TADA: Theatre Arts & Dance Alliance
✨ Action Karate
✨ Grace Community Church
✨ FishHawk West Lake House
✨ Rashah Fit

Need ideas on what to grab?
Think simple staples like:
✔️ cereal
✔️ pasta & sauce
✔️ peanut butter & jelly
✔️ canned veggies or beans
✔️ mac & cheese
✔️ kid-friendly snacks

These small items make a BIG difference for the families we serve each week.

We’re still feeling the impact of *Soup for the Soul*… 💛

What an incredible night filled with generosity, connection, and community. Because of YOU, Seeds of Hope can continue showing up for families who need it most.

But here’s something we want you to know…

✨ The mission doesn’t pause after the event.
✨ The work continues every single week.

We are still:
🥕 Distributing food to local families
🎒 Providing weekly backpacks for students
🤝 Supporting neighbors who are simply navigating a tough season

And right now… we need YOU.

There are so many ways to help:
✔ Volunteer your time
✔ Donate food or funds
✔ Host a food drive with your church, neighborhood, or group

Every effort matters. Every act of kindness adds up.

And as we begin looking ahead to our next big event - our annual Turkey Trot in November - we’re reminded that what truly makes a difference is what we do in the in-between moments.

💛 Let’s keep the momentum going.
