Hey Sankofa Community!!!! Spread the word….the collective has three current offerings for families:

• DOULA SUPPORT: No-cost services for Black birthing folks in Riverside & San Bernardino County, in partnership with BIH & Perinatal Equity Initiative.

• MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT: Mama’s Harambee offers weekly peer support, lunch, and resources for postpartum moms. Meetings are virtual and in-person.

• LACTATION SUPPORT: Every Friday, Loving Lactation has drop-in breastfeeding & lactation support!

We have a new addition to our Midwifery Access Team! Em Moreland of is offering her knowledge and presence to our pregnant community! 🤰🏾🫶🏾Pregnant people, are you waking up with sore hips? Midwife Emma Moreland of is sharing advice to remedy that. Here's a sneak peek of her response during our first Midwifery Access Program, prenatal care groups!

Participants of this new offering not only met with Midwife 1:1, they shared about how their pregnancies are going, received other practical tips to support current discomfort, while building connection and community. The Midwifery Access Program (MAP) is guided by a team of midwives, doulas, and educators who are passionate about community, care, and connection.

Each member brings unique experience and heart to this work—creating spaces where families feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout their pregnancy journey. 💛

Starting this Friday through year’s end — join us online for connection, lactation support, and a little fresh energy for your finfant eeding journey. We’re meeting every Friday 1p - 2:30p, from now until the end of the year for community-centered support and encouragement for you!

🌬️ May came and went with a bluster, and Sankofa has been beautifully busy! And now we’re playing catch up.

💛We started the month strong by wrapping up the final weekend of our IE BIPOC Doula Training, and we’re so proud to welcome 30 newly trained doulas ready to serve and support families across the Inland Empire! 👶🏽✨As the month rolled on, we hosted a two doula mingles and a Doula Lab with both events uplifted birth equity and raised awarenss about access to doula care. We closed things out in community, with the heartfelt Voice of midwifery gathering hosted by and fellowship with other organizaitons at the BIH/Perinatal Equity Initiative Conference, the Birth Eequity Thought Partners Convening and connect with other Black-led organizations at the Conference. We’re grateful for the momentum and the collective energy moving us forward.
