After helping fund beautiful new spaces inside the library, the Foundation gave its own identity a refresh too, with a new logo. We kept what matters — the green and stained-glass motif that's been part of this library for generations — with a fresh perspective.

It’s less reinvention and more a nod to the history this Foundation exists to support. We hope you like it!

October is Mystery Month at the Library. All month, enjoy mystery book discussions, a movie series and the big event — a murder mystery party (Friday, Oct. 16).

Actors from The Murder Mystery Company will turn the library into a crime scene for the night, and you and your fellow guests play the detectives (and suspects), sleuthing over food and drinks.

This after-hours event is sponsored by the River Forest Public Library Foundation. Registration opens tonight! 18+ only.

Author Ann Patchett reminds us: reading isn't just a personal pleasure — it builds empathy, strengthens our ability to focus deeply, and pulls us out of isolation and into connection with others.

If we want a world full of readers, it starts with all of us supporting the places that make books accessible to everyone: our libraries. 💛

Watch the clip below, then stop by RFPL and pick up something new to read!

We hope you've noticed a new sign at the library. It's still a work in progress (see image #2 for a mock up!) but it's a great example of how the library continues to evolve.

Our prior sign had unfortunately become unstable and unsafe. Our new sign was carefully chosen in part to reflect the library's historic architecture.

Keep watching for the finished product ... coming soon!

Today we're celebrating the freedom to read whatever you want, learn whatever you want and ask any question you want.

The First Amendment's right to freedom of expression includes our right to receive information on a wide range of topics from a variety of viewpoints. The River Forest Public Library plays a key role in making that access real.

At the RFPL Foundation, we're proud to celebrate (and support) this freedom. Happy Fourth of July!

Part of the RFPL Foundation's role is to advocate for our library - and encourage us all to show up when our library needs it most.

On June 25, the FCC voted to consider eliminating the E-Rate program, an essential source of broadband funding for libraries and schools.

We can all take action now and tell Congress to save our E-Rate and keep funding libraries like ours.

How is your summer reading coming? Pick up any prizes yet?

The RFPL Foundation is always proud to sponsor the summer reading kick-off event. It's just one of the ways the Foundation enhances how the library serves our community.

Theodore was adorable! Looking forward to having him or one of his buddies back next month. They are great listeners as young readers practice reading aloud to a completely nonjudgmental audience.
