Join Mississippi Department of Mental Health on June 30th for the Crisis Partners & Providers Virtual Convening: Advancing the Continuum Together, a free, two-hour virtual event for Mississippi partners working across crisis response and behavioral health systems.

This convening marks the culmination of a year-long series of virtual trainings and crisis partner convenings, bringing together providers, system leaders, and community partners to reflect on progress, share insights, and identify opportunities for continued collaboration.

Traumatic events — such as a motor vehicle crash, assault, military combat or natural disasters — can have lasting effects on a person’s mental health.

While many people will have short term responses to life-threatening events, some will develop longer term symptoms that can lead to a diagnosis of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A diagnosis is only as good as the treatment it leads to. Whether or not you feel confident in your diagnosis, it’s important to reevaluate occasionally.

Call-takers, dispatchers, and emergency communications professionals play a vital role by connecting individuals to crisis lines and other behavioral health care services, rather than police services, and/or by providing CIT officers with the information needed for a safe, effective response.
