A place for community. A place for creativity. A place to share a meal, make a connection, and be known. A place rooted in the belief that people are hungry for more than food. We are hungry for community, belonging, and spaces where we can simply be together.

Meet Grace, the newest member of the Luther’s Table Board of Directors!

Grace’s connection to Luther’s Table began at The Table, our Saturday morning free community meal offered in partnership with Sustainable Renton and REACH. What began as volunteering quickly became something more. Grace writes, 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘺 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴

For Grace, those relationships are at the heart of what draws her to Luther’s Table. 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴. And she already is. Grace can often be found on Saturday mornings serving meals, talking with neighbors, and building relationships around the table.

Since stepping into board leadership, she has already helped shift the way we think about outreach and engagement: not simply how we get people through the doors, but how we go out, connect with people, listen, build relationships, and help create community through our social media presence.

Grace is especially passionate about creating third spaces and opportunities for young adults to find connection and community. As our youngest board member, Grace brings an important perspective to our board and hopes to help Luther’s Table imagine new ways of connecting with young adults. As Grace shared, 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘯.

Grace also brings a beautiful curiosity about the fullness of Luther’s Table’s mission saying, 𝘕𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥, 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘵... 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘓𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳’𝘴 𝘛𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺.

We are excited about that too, Grace, and grateful for the passion, curiosity, resilience, connection, and care you are already bringing to the table.

NEW THIS FALL, Luther's Table is excited to welcome The Rest Stop, a new monthly spiritual practice created and led by community members April and Brooks Shepherd.

Launching Sunday, September 27 from 7:00–8:00 PM, The Rest Stop is an invitation to slow down, breathe, and simply be. Each gathering includes a brief welcome, a short reading, quiet music, and space for personal reflection. There are no sermons. No pressure. No expectations. Whether you're exploring faith, navigating recovery, carrying life's questions, or simply looking for a quiet place to pause, you're welcome here. So come and get comfortable, bring a pillow, blanket, or bedroll. Seating is provided.

We're grateful to April and Brooks for listening to where the Spirit is leading and for sharing this new practice with our community. We can't wait to see how this small seed grows.

We are grateful for Anthony 'Tone' Austin and the leadership, passion, and perspective he has brought to Luther’s Table during this foundational year of our Board of Directors. As Co-Chair, Tone has helped shape conversations, ask important questions, and continually call us toward justice, inclusion, dignity, and deeper connection with our community.

Tone came to this work believing that Luther’s Table could be a place where barriers are broken down, people are seen for their full selves, and everyone has room at the table. His voice has helped us dream bigger about what this ministry can be and challenged us to keep growing into that vision.

As Tone and his family prepare for a new adventure in New Jersey, we are excited for all that lies ahead for them. While we will miss his presence and leadership around the table, we are deeply grateful for the ways he has helped shape Luther’s Table during this important season of becoming.

Thank you, Tone, for your leadership, your heart for community, and the time and care you have invested in Luther’s Table. We send you and your family with gratitude and every good wish for this next chapter.

35 Friends of the Table... and there’s room for more.

When we first began inviting people to become Friends of the Table, we wondered what might happen if a community of monthly supporters came alongside this growing ministry.

As of today, 35 people who believe in a table where everyone is welcome.
35 people helping keep the doors open, meals on the table, creativity flowing, and spaces for connection and belonging available to our community.
35 people whose monthly generosity gives Luther’s Table something incredibly important: a steady foundation from which to grow.

And we are still hoping to grow.
Gro capacity for more people are gathering, more partnerships, more meals to be shared, more opportunity for creativity, connection, healing, laughter, service, and community.
