Earlier this month, our community came together for Breakfast of Hope.

Supporters, partners, and friends joined us to reflect on the impact we’re creating together and what’s possible when inclusion leads the way. It was a morning filled with connection, shared purpose, and a deeper belief in the work ahead.

Thank you for showing up, for believing in this mission, and for being part of it.

Because of you, lives are changing 💙

A few years ago, Alexa’s life completely unraveled.

She was grieving the loss of her mother. Royalty’s father had been murdered. She had lost custody of her oldest child and was trying to navigate life as a single mom while quietly realizing that something deeper was going on with Royalty’s development.

At the same time, people around her made her feel like it was somehow her fault.

This is the story of what happened next.

Not just the challenges, but the support, advocacy, growth, and love that helped Alexa and Royalty begin finding their way forward together.

Every family deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. Thank you for helping make stories like this possible.

98% of websites fail ONE BILLION people with disabilities worldwide.

Common issues like low-contrast text, missing image alt text, and inaccessible links and buttons prevent equal access online.

This Global Accessibility Awareness Day, let’s commit to building digital spaces that are inclusive, accessible, and designed for everyone.

The world isn’t always built with everyone in mind. Too often, access is treated as an afterthought and inclusion becomes something added later instead of something designed from the start.

We believe there’s a better way. A world where environments are built for everyone, where access is expected, and where opportunity is not limited by design.

That’s the world we’re building at Northwest Center.

Harder to ignore, impossible to accept.

When fewer people with disabilities are given the chance to work, the gap grows. And so does the risk of living in poverty.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Yesterday's "Breakfast of Hope" was a powerful reminder that Northwest Center's mission doesn't move forward without the people who choose to stand behind it.

To everyone who attended and shared their morning with us...thank you. 💙

We looked at the data, and the takeaway was simple.

People with disabilities aren’t asking for more. They’re asking for access, independence, and the ability to fully participate in everyday life.

What gets in the way isn’t ability. It’s the systems around us. And when those systems are built with inclusion in mind, they don’t just work for some people, they work better for everyone.

"I knew that there was something different at a very early age. About six months, I began speaking with doctors, pretty much letting them know she was losing words. And I had a doctor tell me, ‘Well, there’s nothing that you could do. There’s nothing really that we can do until she gets to school.’

At first when she first said it, it was like that feeling of defeat in your gut. But when I walked out of that office, I wasn’t willing to take no for an answer. It just didn’t make sense to me. My child wasn’t talking. My child wasn’t communicating. My child wasn’t able to say ‘mom.’

That one word… I feel like parents, we take that for granted because our kids are supposed to say that. But mine didn’t. Mine never called me mom. She knew I was her mother. She knew that I loved her. But I needed her to say that.

When she looked at me and she called me mom, I remember the day. I cried. I was grateful. I was thankful. I knew everything that I did was okay. And she’s been flourishing ever since."
