The BSS is the official and original registry for the Boykin Spaniel. We are located in Boykin, SC, where the breed originated. Comments moderated.

This page is intended to provide information related to Boykins and benefits of membership. The BSS offers it's membership a quarterly full color magazine, hosts an upland National field championship and a retriever National Championship every year the BSS also offers sanctioned BSS Upland Hunt Tests through out the US by various Boykin Spaniel Clubs. The Boykin Spaniel Society prides itself in being the official and original registry of the Boykin Spaniel.

🥳Something special is coming in 2027.

The Boykin Spaniel Society will celebrate 50 years of protecting, preserving and bringing together the community around South Carolina’s little brown dog.

As part of that celebration, we are collecting 50 Stories for 50 Years and we would love to hear yours.

Your story does not have to be polished. It does not have to be long. You do not need to be a writer.

Maybe it is about the Boykin who changed your family, a favorite hunting memory, a field trial moment, the dog who introduced you to the breed, a friendship made through BSS, or simply one of those little moments you will never forget.

Just tell it in your own words. We can take it from there.

Over the coming months, we will be sharing the people, dogs and memories that helped shape the story of the Boykin Spaniel Society.

Your Boykin belongs in the Registry. You belong in the Society.

Registering your individual Boykin gives your dog a permanent place in the Official Breed Registry and helps preserve accurate lineage and the documented history of the breed.

And registration is also an introduction to the larger Boykin community.

If you are not already a BSS member, registering an eligible Boykin includes your first year of BSS membership and the quarterly magazine. After that first year, your dog’s registration remains permanent, while you can continue your connection to BSS by renewing your membership each year.

Membership helps support the research, education, breed preservation and ongoing work of the Society to protect the Boykin Spaniel we know and love for generations to come.

If your Boykin came from a BSS-registered litter and you never completed the individual registration, it is not too late. Boykins can be registered at any age.

Already a BSS member? Individual dog registration is $30.
Not currently a member? Individual registration plus your first year of BSS membership is $75.
