You have probably seen this. Another Farmer in need. Pick some free grapes. All it costs is your time. Still two days left.

Do you want to help us harvest tens of thousands of pounds of grapes and distribute them for free? If you answered YES, you’re in for a treat! 🙌🏼

Offer Kindness was contacted by a local farmer in Reedley who is donating a portion of his crop this year. These grapes are absolutely delicious and beautiful! There are thousands of full rows of vines with an abundance of grapes still waiting to be harvested.

We need you to help us harvest these delicious table grapes! Our goal is to make sure as many grapes as possible end up in people’s bellies in the Fresno County area . 🍇

Join us for three amazing volunteer events in Reedley, California from 7-9:30 am:

Our Garden Member Virgina:
Inspiration comes in many forms. Virginia is an inspiration for staying active and healthy. At 87, she continues to enjoy coming to the Garden. Her weekly routine with her health caretaker and her daughters, enable her to be actively participating outside.

Virginia likes to w**d in the community garden beds and areas she has adopted using either a shovel or a hoe. She likes to take out the w**ds around the fruit trees and the artichoke plants. She loves artichokes. She really likes that her daughters come with her.

Virginia says she’s been active all her life. She does not like sitting down too much. She shares that she had worked most of her life in big homes in the Los Angeles area. She has many stories of how she enjoyed herself working in the mansions in the hills and of the many people she met from the entertainment industry. She now enjoys living peacefully in Reedley and staying active by coming to the Garden with her daughters.

It’s almost the middle of July and the heat is on. CLG Garden members have been busy ensuring the Garden plants and trees survive. They arrive early mornings and leave before the heat starts. Watering the new plants and keeping the existing ones alive is the priority.

The Garden plants for June & July continue to thrive. Squash plants are surviving, even with all the predators that like them. The root plants, like onions and garlic, are flourishing. The asparagus plants continue to grow every year. The tomato plants are also starting to produce. Some of the fruit trees continue to create some tasty plums, nectarines and peaches.

The artichoke plants are being taken care of by dedicated Garden members. Also, just recently, new member Claudia planted some nopales along the fence line.

Nopales (Prickly Pears) are known for the fruit they produce called tuna. The young pads are also used for meals that are both nutritious and tasty. With everything that we have growing, we are in for some wonderful meal opportunities.

The benefits of a free summer breakfast and lunch program for 18 and under students are numerous. They help combat food insecurity and help with the food budget when regular school programs are out for the summer. They provide nutritious meals for healthy development. They encourage community engagement and often provide learning activities. Most importantly, they provide a nutritional meal that helps them get going! Please check the KCUSD locations where 18 and under students can get free morning meals.

May 2026 Mental Health Awareness:
Making connections. Feeling capable and confident. Developing a sense of responsibility and empathy for others. These are common strategies for good mental health.

You begin by getting out and being active. Community gardening, volunteering or a yoga group. Activities that can help get you out there. Here’s a few options for getting active physically and mentally.

May 2026 is Mental Health Awareness Month. The focus is on what a "good" day means to individuals and communities, promoting collective support to manage mental health.

The month emphasizes that mental health is as important as physical health, aiming to increase access to care and ensure everyone has the tools to thrive.
