The Reedley Lions had the honor and pleasure of serving lunch today for the seniors of Reedley at the community center! If you’re 55 or older and haven’t visited the senior center lately, you’re missing out on great food, activities, friendships & fun. (Unless you’re a Reedley Lion- we’re busy keeping ourselves entertained with service projects & community events)! It was wonderful seeing so many members of our community. Thank you everyone who joined us and helped us. We always enjoy opportunities to serve & connect with the people who make Reedley such a special place.

What a wonderful way to close out another incredible Lions year! Nearly 80 people joined us for an evening of food, friendship, recognition, and fun as we celebrated all that we accomplished this year. Together, the Reedley Lions Club completed more than 30 service projects that made a difference in our community. We were honored to recognize several outstanding individuals during the evening. Members of our Leo club joined us, and we were proud to award a college scholarship to one of our graduating Leos. We also welcomed 4 of our scholarship recipients from Reedley‘s three high schools, giving us the opportunity to congratulate them personally and encourage them as they begin the next chapter of their educational journeys. The evening also included special awards, recognizing dedicated Lion members and our amazing repeat supporters who may not wear a Lions vest, but continually show up to volunteer, lend a hand, and support our projects. Your commitment means so much to us, and we are truly grateful. We were also pleased to welcome guests from throughout our community, including representatives from local organizations, former Kings and Queens, Community leaders, and many friends of the Lions. To top it all off, we celebrated with a colorful tie-dye party that had everyone smiling and creating lasting memories together. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year a success. Service is always more meaningful when shared with others, and we are proud of what we have accomplished together.

Reedley Lions had the opportunity to serve lunch to our city’s P***c Works department today. Next week being National Public Works Week (NPWW) we wanted to thank them for all their hard work. We thank you for your commitment to excellence.

Meet Elizabeth! Elizabeth is a student completing an individual service project for the National Honor Society (NHS). NHS is an organization for middle school and HS students who maintain high academic achievement while also giving back through service projects each year. For her individual project Elizabeth said she wanted to help donate eyeglasses to the Lions Club. Over the span of five months she collected 26 pairs of glasses after learning about the Lion’s Recycle for Sight program. What a wonderful example, that you are never too young to make a difference through service! The Reedley Lions are always looking for donated glasses so they can be recycled and distributed to people in need throughout the United States and abroad. Lives are diminished as vision is diminished. Children struggle in school, adults lose productivity, and seniors can lose their independence. Basic eye care and eyeglasses, greatly improve quality of life, so let’s give old glasses a second chance in a new home. We accept prescription glasses, sunglasses, reading glasses, non-prescription sunglasses. Please no loose lenses or cases. If anyone would like to participate, you too can collect glasses for the Lions Club. Great job, Elizabeth! Thank you for helping others see a brighter future!

The Reedley Lions Club had a great time at our Cinco de Mayo meeting! We were honored to welcome members of the Reedley College Mule Club - Ally (President), Alexus, David, Daniel & Christian. They shared what mule packing is all about, and how the program has helped them build discipline, responsibility, and confidence, while creating opportunities for personal growth. Such an impressive group! In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo we mixed things up with some “Would you Rather” games. Would you eat tacos for breakfast, lunch & dinner for a week… or would you rather give up tacos for a month? Let’s just say… Tacos won by a landslide! We also had some friendly debates (Tacos vs Burritos, Chips & Salsa vs Chips & Guacamole) and wrapped up the meeting with a Grito contest - and Wow, did our members show up! Lots of Laughs & great participation. Another fun & memorable meeting.
