🎉🖤 50,000+ FOLLOWERS… AND I’VE NEVER ASKED YOU GUYS FOR THIS BEFORE. PLEASE READ. 🙏

PUTTING MY PRIDE ASIDE… I NEED TO TELL YOU SOMETHING. 🖤

🚗💔 I HAVEN’T HAD A WORKING CAR THIS ENTIRE TIME, BUT I’VE NEVER LET THAT STOP ME FROM SHOWING UP FOR MY COMMUNITY.

I’M NOT ASKING ANYONE FOR MONEY. I’M ASKING YOU TO HELP ME GROW Redding NOW.

Please read 🫶

Redding NOW might be my page, but I made it FOR our community.

I truly believe:

“It doesn’t matter what community you’re a part of, you’re part of a community, and we should all lift each other up.” 🖤

Redding NOW is about so much more than advertising. We share local businesses, community events, important alerts, missing people and pets, fundraisers, local history, veteran remembrance, local stories, new businesses, grand openings, and so much more.

I started Redding NOW on December 20, 2024, after leaving an organization where I had been volunteering my time to help local businesses and our community.

When I first joined, I wasn't aware of all the arrangements that had already been made or what businesses had been promised. I was simply volunteering my time and doing what I was asked to do.

As I learned more about those arrangements, I became concerned after discovering that some local businesses had been charged significant amounts of money for services they were told they would receive, but in some situations, those services weren't actually being provided the way they had been promised or if at all.

There was one situation that really changed everything for me.

I was told to go retrieve money from a local business.

Instead, I went directly to the business owner and let them know what I had learned.

I couldn't bring myself to take money from a local business when I didn't believe they were receiving what they had been told they were paying for.

So I walked away.

I didn't leave to make money. I left because my conscience wouldn't allow me to stay.

And just so you guys know, I’ve been doing all of this for free. I don’t charge people to post, and I don’t charge local businesses to be featured. I’ve never expected anything in return.

I do it because I genuinely care about this community, and I know how hard it is out there for local businesses and everyday people. 🖤

I DIDN'T START REDDING NOW TO CREATE COMPETITION.

I started it because I wanted to do things differently.

I wanted local businesses to have a place where they could be seen free of charge because I understand how hard it is out there.

And I wanted our community to have a place where people could help one another.

🚗💔 THEN CAME THE CAR ACCIDENT.

Last year, I was in a car accident with my mom and my special needs little brother when an 18-year-old driver ran a red light and hit us.

I've been dealing with ongoing pain ever since, and I still haven't received a settlement from that accident.

Before the accident, I had money saved up from my job because I was planning on getting another vehicle.

Then the accident happened. I had to leave that job, and the money I had saved for a vehicle ended up going toward supporting myself, managing my pain, and everyday necessities.

So the car I had been saving for never happened.

A BIG SHOUTOUT AND THANK YOU to my mom Dee and my friend who have helped me with rides and have been so supportive of me through all of this. 🖤

And another HUGE shoutout to my special needs, nonverbal little brother Denny Mike for helping his big sister in his own special way. 🥹🖤

I truly couldn't do this without them.

Not having reliable transportation has limited what I can do, but I keep finding ways to show up.

And now, for the first time, I’m also announcing:

🖤 FACEBOOK HAS MONETIZED REDDING NOW. 🖤

Right now, I generally make only a few cents per post, if anything at all.

It’s not much, but it does add up, and I am SUPER thankful for every single penny. 🖤

My hope is that as Redding NOW grows, those earnings can eventually help me get reliable transportation and continue doing what I love.

🖤 I’ve also been considering sponsors.

If any local businesses or people in our community have ideas or would like to reach out about sponsorships, I’m open to hearing your suggestions. 🖤

I've been told many times that I should charge for what I do.

I know I probably could.

But I don't want money to change the reason I started Redding NOW.

I DON'T WANT TO BECOME WHAT I WALKED AWAY FROM.

So today, I’m putting my pride aside and saying:

🖤 I NEED YOUR HELP. 🖤

Not financially.

Just help me grow.

🚨🔥 SISKIYOU COUNTY, PLEASE BE SAFE! DANGEROUS FIRE WEATHER IS COMING! ⚠️ ONE SPARK COULD TURN INTO A WILDFIRE FAST! 👀

CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit ✨shares:✨

🚩 A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Siskiyou County.

Critical fire weather conditions are expected Monday, including gusty winds and low daytime humidity. These conditions could cause new or existing fires to spread rapidly.

Avoid activities that could create sparks, and immediately report any signs of fire. Do your part—one less spark means one less wildfire!

🚨 HE FELL ASLEEP DRIVING… THEN CRASHED INTO A POWER POLE & TREE! 💥

SERIOUS INJURIES & POSSIBLY BROKEN RIBS — IT COULD’VE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE!

CHP - Willows ✨shares:✨

Yesterday afternoon Willows CHP officers were advised of a crash on 99W south of County Road 6. The driver told the investigating officers he fell asleep while driving.

After drifting off the road, his car knocked a power pole over and careened into a tree. He suffered serious injuries including suspected broken ribs, but overall, was fortunate to have not suffered greater injuries based on the circumstances of the crash..

A common theme we hear when people fall asleep at the wheel is, "I knew I was tired, but I didn't realize I was that tired."

When you are fatigued while driving, don't try to push through it. Stop and walk around, get some caffeine, or take a nap. Any time you think you are going to save by pushing through isn't worth the risk of injuring yourself or someone else.

✝️ THIS TINY 8×10 SHRINE HAS OVER 170 YEARS OF HISTORY! 👀📜

Tucked away along Highway 45 near Grimes is the Grand Island Shrine, also known as the Little Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows. ✝️💧

I actually visited this historic little shrine today and paid my respects. 🙏 I wanted to share it with you all because I think people should know this incredible piece of Colusa County history is here, and yes, you are able to go inside the shrine! 👀✝️

The first Catholic Mass in Colusa County was celebrated here in May 1856, making this tiny spot connected to more than 170 years of local history! 📜

In 1864, a large wooden cross was placed here to commemorate the site. Then, in 1883, Father Michael Wallrath built the tiny shrine using hand kilned bricks. 🧱

The little shrine is only about 8 by 10 feet, tiny enough that only a few people can comfortably fit inside!

It was dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and became a place where people came to pray, visit and make pilgrimages. 🙏✝️

The shrine was eventually restored and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 because of its unique Gothic architecture and incredible history. 🏛️

It is also recognized as a California Point of Historical Interest. 📜

📍Location: Highway 45 near Grimes, California

***If you visit, please be respectful of the shrine, its sacred nature and the history of this special place.***

Just imagine standing here and knowing people have been coming to this very spot for generations. 🥹😲

🇺🇸😳 EIGHT MEN FROM COLUSA WERE SENT TO ALCATRAZ… FOR CELEBRATING LINCOLN’S DEATH?! 👀📜

AND THEY WEREN’T JUST ORDINARY MEN… THEY INCLUDED THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY, THE JUSTICE OF THE PEACE & OTHER PROMINENT LOCAL MEN! 🤯⚖️

After President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in April 1865, Colusa CA was considered a stronghold for Southern sympathizers during the Civil War. Union soldiers were sent to Colusa to investigate reports of people celebrating Lincoln’s death.

Eight men were arrested and sent to Alcatraz, where they were held for about two months before being tried in federal court in San Francisco. 🇺🇸⚖️

The eight men were Dudley Shepardson, A. J. Scoggins, Charles E. Price, H. Goodman, Jonas Baer, John Campbell, Marion Tate and Josiah Lee. 📜

Among them were Dudley Shepardson, the District Attorney of Colusa County; A. J. Scoggins, the Justice of the Peace; Charles E. Price, the Deputy Assessor; and John Campbell, a rancher. The others were local citizens and businessmen. 🤯

After spending about two months at Alcatraz, the men were turned over to civil authorities, and the charges against them were ultimately dropped. 🤯⚖️

Today, this historical marker helps preserve this fascinating and often overlooked chapter of Colusa’s history.

It’s pretty amazing to think that something that happened more than 160 years ago is still remembered here today! 🇺🇸📜

🏛️🇺🇸 165 YEARS OLD… AND THERE’S A GEORGE WASHINGTON STATUE HIDING INSIDE?! 👀😳

The Colusa County Courthouse was built in 1861 and is the oldest remaining courthouse in the Sacramento Valley! It was designated California Historical Landmark No. 890. 📜

Inside the courthouse is a statue of George Washington, presented to Colusa County in recognition of the incredible contributions local residents made toward the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸

I would have loved to get a picture of the statue for you, but it’s Sunday and the courthouse is closed, so unfortunately I couldn’t get inside today. 📸🥲 I’ll try my best to come back another time and get a photo!

If anyone has a picture of the George Washington statue, please feel free to share it in the comments below! 👇

UPDATE ON THE WILEY THE WHISKEY SADDLE PUP: We finally located the dog on whiskey saddle. He has been up there over a week; literally in the middle of no where. I was able to feed him and left him water. I’m going to try to buy or borrow a big trap because this dog will not be able to be caught by hand. I will have to ask if we are going to have any chance at trapping him that other people stop feeding him- yes may sound cruel but we need him hungry enough to risk going into the trap. This dog is a cattle dog and very smart. As soon as I had a leash he took off. If anyone can help with gas money we spent a lot on fuel today driving around 4 hours looking for him and we will need to bring our big truck up next. This is going to be a pretty tough rescue, I have caught dogs like this before and it took an entire month of work. Following my page and sharing our efforts can help us rescue more by making the community more aware of us. PLEASE SHARE!
