There is Hope in Jesus and your willingness to make the choices before you
From age seven on, Chad Melton felt his life was b***y trapped. Every door he opened blew up in his face. It wasn't until he walked through a different door, a door that led to the Mission's Recovery Program, did he finally find the freedom he'd been looking for.
Before then, Chad had gone through some devastating losses: his dad, his two brothers, a sister and a beloved father figure. He almost died himself—twice. First, it was a logging accident that cost him his left eye; months later, his car rolled over an embankment.
All that grief felt like a shattered mirror that nothing and no one could put together again. To cope, Chad numbed himself with drugs and drinking.
Life is very different now for Chad. He's sober and he's happy.
Set to graduate next month, Chad's transformation has been profound. Just ask his children. They were, and are, Chad’s greatest motivation to being a better man.
“My children tell me they’re happy to have me back around,” says Chad. They’re happy to have me show up for all of their events. And they even tell me they’re happy to have me be a goofball again! It’s true. I laugh and play with them a lot more now that I’m sober. I’m giving them my good time.”
You'll want to read Chad's full story to learn how God met Chad at his lowest point and now is using him to encourage his fellow students to go higher—to "fight the good fight of faith" on the difficult road to recovery.
