Hello everyone!
Hope you enjoyed the summer and all that the lake had to offer, had a wonderful holiday, and survived snowmageddon!
Before you know it... tip ups will be on the lake. May be too late, hopefully we will get some more beautiful Fall days. Speaking of Fall - as we look to maintain and promote lake health - in the future, please be mindful and do not rake or dump your leaves in the lake. Obviously leaves will naturally fall or blow in the lake but the more we can keep them out the better our lake quality will be. Appreciate everyone's support for maintaining and improving the lake health.
Quick headliners:
Thank you to all that volunteered to be boat drivers, be at the booth, be golf cart drivers, and be at the dock to make Fall Fest a success.
Save the dates!!!! All weather permitting but block them off please! We will be looking for volunteers for all the events - if you, or anyone you know, is interested in volunteering for any of them - please email us.
January 17th 2026 - 2nd annual Frozen Toes ice fishing derby (ice permitting).
May 30th 2026 - Annual Membership Meeting and Boat Parade
July 11th 2026 - Beach Bash and fireworks
September 26th 2026 - Fall Fest
Beach Bash - unfortunately we did not have enough funds donated for the 2025 Beach Bash to cover the cost of the event. Fortunately, we had left over donations from prior years to cover our losses. Keep in mind we differentiate our donations for fireworks and Beach Bash separate from the money we receive for membership.
Lake management plan - Community meeting will occur in early 2026. We will keep you posted once the date is finalized
Fall fest was a huge success getting the Random Lake Association (RLA) brand awareness and lake health information out there more and putting smiles on faces with boat rides around the lake. Cannot thank the persons that volunteered their boats and time to drive people around. And thank you to all the volunteers that spent time at the booth interacting with those visiting the fest and the golf cart drivers getting persons to and from the fest grounds to boat rides. Next year we will look to add more boats and boat drivers to help limit the wait time. With the beautiful weather and the increasing popularity of the boat rides, this year we saw some families wait about 30 mins and others walked away due to the long line. So if you could help us out with that we'd greatly appreciate it!
We look forward to all the events and want to thank the RLA board for all their work to make them a success. We need volunteers as well to make sure the events happen smoothly and successfully. Please let us know by email if you can provide any support leading up to or the day of events. Dates for all the events are above.
More communications will be coming shortly to give more information on Beach Bash.
Lake Management Plan is still in the works. As part of the process for finalizing the lake management plan, we will be meeting with members, the community, the Village, and the DNR to discuss The findings of all the surveys and work Onterra has done, is doing, and is planned. We are working with the Village, DNR, and Onterra to resume treatments of invasive aquatic plants next year and the Lake Management Plan will have a more holistic roadmap defining actions needed for future years.
We are still looking to fill the Vice President role for the board. If you have interest let us know. If you think someone may be interested or could help the board out please spread the word. We also currently have 3 other open spots on the RLA board. So again if you're interested in helping the team out or if you know someone that may be please help us spread the word. Our next election will take place at the annual meeting on May 30 and it would be great to have a full board for this next membership year.
Thank you for your time and membership!
Matthew Brophy (RLA President) and the RLA Board
