National Flag Day Foundation

National Flag Day Foundation Signature EVENT:Flag Day Celebration! GRATITUDE to our: Veterans & Military On June 14th, 1885, Bernard J. On June 14th, 2004, the 108th U.S.

PURPOSE & JOURNEY…
Promote Patriotism & Love of Country
Patriotism is an admirable quality that brings
people together with a sense of unity, and
helps build a stronger nation. Cigrand, a 19 year old teacher at Stony Hill School, placed a 10 inch, 38- star flag in a bottle on his desk then assigned essays on the flag and its significance. This observance, commemorated Congresses adoption of the St

ars and Stripes as the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777. This observance was also the beginning of Cigrand’s long years of fervent and devoted effort to bring about national recognition and observance of Flag Day. The crowning achievement of his life came at age fifty when President Wilson, on May 30, 1916, issued a proclamation calling for a nation wide observance of Flag Day. Then in 1949, President Truman signed an Act Of Congress designating the 14th day of June every year as National Flag Day. Congress voted unanimously on H.R. 662 that Flag Day originated in Ozaukee County, Waubeka Wisconsin. The National Flag Day Foundation joins forces with community groups and individuals that love our flag and want to keep its traditions alive. Our goal is to teach Americanism, using Flag history, enlisting 4-H groups, VFW, Scouts and other patriots to teach the lessons of our great flag. The National Flag Day Foundation initiates fund raising efforts to support Bernard J. Cigrands’ dream to fittingly commemorate the birthday of the American Flag. And to carry the message of our Flag to the future leaders of our great country – our youth.

🇺🇸 THANK YOU, SPONSORS! 🇺🇸
It has been a month since our Flag Day Celebration.. and we are still floating on air! Seeing our community come together to honor Old Glory was truly unforgettable—but none of it would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our sponsors.
Because of their support, we were able to bring our community together, honor our nation's history, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Please join us in thanking the amazing businesses and organizations that invested in our community this year:
Big Joe's Gas & Convenience, Port Washington State Bank, Property Loss Management, Family Fry Farms, Tesker Manufacturing Corporation, Bublitz Plumbing and Heating Inc., Cedarburg Lions Club (Cedarburg, WI), Ozaukee County,

A huge shoutout also goes to our tireless volunteers, vendors, and everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We are so proud of our community and deeply grateful for the partnerships that keep our traditions flying high. ❤️🤍💙

On June 14, 1885, Bernard J. Cigrand, a 19-year-old teacher at Stony Hill School placed a 10-inch, 38 star flag on his desk.  He asked his students to write an essay in reflection of what this flag meant to them.  The National Flag Day Foundation aims to keep this patriotic tradition alive.
