This we honored our Veteran's by placing carnations on their graves at several different cemeteries. This is a long standing tradition with the 🍀 Waubeka 4-H Club dating back to the 1930's.
We also honored Alfreda Burrell. Ms. Burrell was a well respected local school teacher who taught 8th grade. Alfreda Burrell was the founder and General Leader of Waubeka 4-H from 1929-1956 and the first members of Waubeka 4-H were 12 girls.
4-H in Ozaukee County was organized in 1929 thanks to Ms. Burrell noting that Waubeka 4-H had their first meeting on May 31st, 1929 at 1:30 p.m.
We also honored and placed carnations 🌸 at the Memorial for the founder of Flag Day, Lt. B.J. Cigrand.
The day followed with a Memorial Day program. Our club was represented by President Taylor B. and 4H leader Robert Eichner to welcome all in attendance, prayer by Meg M., Pledge of Allegiance by Leah H., the Missing Man Table by Erica S. and shown by Allison S., Raising of the Flag by Skylar B., Addie S., and Adelaide B., Placing of the Wreath by Evelyn and Olivia, and final prayer by Meg M.
This is always a humbling and an amazing life experience for our youth to honor and give back to those that gave so much for us.
Great job to all the 4-H members, 🍀 helping to keep the tradition of the Memorial Day program in Waubeka.
