Music is memory. Music is magic.✨ Long before we had written language, history and cultural traditions were passed on orally, and more importantly, musically. We are naturally designed to recognize patterns. Rhythmic and melodic patterns in music, aligned with words, make for a powerful mnemonic device utilized by ancient peoples and communities. Even if the words were not entirely understood by listeners, the intent came through, because music transcends language. A song may still cause you goosebumps, even if its singer is using a foreign language, which many opera lovers can confirm!
In the present day, music is still one of the most powerful tools of communication to wide audiences. Music can ignite movements and stir our faith. Music helps us teach children basic life truths and pass down stories that enrich and inspire our communities…
Join us on Sunday, March 22 or Spring Ritual: An Early Music Concert as we perform ancient tunes in honor of Springtime, LIFE, and renewal - just as cultures around the world have been for centuries. The NJEM ensemble and Youth Players will perform medieval, renaissance, and Celtic melodies featuring period instruments (like the Irish Bodhrán) and voices. 🎶 With special musical guest - Irish-Mexican singer and composer Aléhli, performing two original Gaelic and Spanish pieces. 💐
Special artist Meet-and-Greet to follow performance, with light refreshments.
