North Jersey-Ramapo ADK Welcome to the North Jersey Ramapo Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, a Hudson Valley (NY/NJ) based outdoor recreation and conservation group.

We sponsor three to four hikes weekly throughout the year in the scenic and historic Hudson Valley region of New York and New Jersey. We are a chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club which is celebrating its 100 year anniversary in 2022.

It was a gorgeous day for a 7 mile Adirondack Mountain Club hike in Sterling State (NY) Forest, with Bob Z. leading the way. Started and ended the hike on the section of the Appalachian Trail known as Agony Grind, in all its steep rocky glory. Did a loop on Indian Hill, visited a pretty lake and an old collapsing furnace. 2 videos posted separately.

Inspiring Leave No Trace Training with Moe Lemire!

Nikki and I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Leave No Trace training on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, led by the outstanding instructor, Moe Lemire.

The training was interactive, engaging, educational, and truly inspiring. We explored the Leave No Trace Principles through thoughtful discussions and hands-on learning that deepened our understanding of outdoor stewardship and environmental responsibility.

This experience reminded us that every hiker has the power to help preserve and protect our beautiful natural spaces for future generations.

ADK leaders and members — please keep an eye out for future trainings in our area with Moe. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to become a stronger steward of nature and conservation!
