Today we hiked from Anthony Wayne to Route 9D, enjoying good weather and the wonderful company of many enthusiastic participants.

One of the highlights of the day was stopping for lunch by Perkins Tower, surrounded by beautiful views and great conversation. There is nothing better than sharing the trail, a meal, and special moments with fellow hikers!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made today another memorable Appalachian Trail adventure! Until the next hike!

🌲 A Beautiful Day on the Trail! 🥾

Today’s hike took us through the Hudson Highlands State Park and the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center, along a beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail, finishing on historic Old Albany Post Road.

We covered 8.6 miles with about 2,150 feet of elevation gain—a great workout with some beautiful scenery along the way!

The weather couldn’t have been better for hiking: mostly sunny, comfortable temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s, and a nice breeze.

But as always, the best part of any hike is the company! We had a wonderful group, lots of good conversation, laughter, encouragement, and plenty of smiles along the way.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made today such a great adventure—and a special thank you to Bob Zachowski, for making the day run so smoothly.

Another fantastic day on the trails with great people!

Until the next adventure! Hike on!

AT NY Hike Segment #5: West Mountain / Bear Mountain to NY 9D
Thanks to those hearty souls who survived two reschedules of this hike and came anyway. Oh and they also climbed West Mountain and Bear Mountain before crossing the Hudson River via the Bear Mountain Bridge.

🥾 Another Great Day on the Appalachian Trail! 🌲⛰️

What a fantastic day on the trail! Our group tackled another beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail in Harriman State Park, hiking north from Lake Tiorati toward Anthony Wayne Recreation Area.

Along the way, we passed the William Brien Memorial Shelter and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, challenging terrain, and, as always, the wonderful camaraderie that makes hiking with this group so special.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and brought such positive energy to the adventure! Every mile is better when shared with great hiking companions. ❤️🥾

Another fantastic day on the Appalachian Trail! 🥾🌿

Today we completed the first hike in our Appalachian Trail New York Series, beginning at Wawayanda and making our way north across the New Jersey–New York state line to the scenic summit of Bellvale Mountain. The trail rewarded us with beautiful forest paths, rocky viewpoints, and sweeping summer scenery that reminded us why the AT is such a special place.

Our group tackled 9.56 miles with approximately 1,276 feet of elevation gain, sharing plenty of laughs, encouragement, and great conversations along the way. Every mile was another opportunity to enjoy nature and the wonderful company of fellow hikers.

And, of course, no Bellvale hike would be complete without the perfect ending—a well-earned stop at Bellvale Farms Creamery for delicious ice cream! 🍦 Nothing tastes better after a day on the trail.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day such a success. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the next adventure as we continue exploring the Appalachian Trail through New York—one hike at a time!

🇺🇸🥾 Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary on the Trail! 🥾🇺🇸

What a wonderful day in the Hudson Highlands! Seven of us came together to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary with an inspiring hike through Harriman State Park, following portions of the Appalachian Trail, Timp–Torne Trail, Orange Trail, and Ramapo–Dunderberg Trail.

Along the way, we were rewarded with spectacular panoramic views, great conversations, and the joy of sharing another adventure with fellow hikers. As we walked the trails of Bear Mountain and West Mountain, we reflected on the important role these mountains and the surrounding Hudson Highlands played during the American Revolution. The rugged landscape helped protect the Hudson River, one of the most strategic locations in the fight for our nation's independence. It was a meaningful way to honor our country's 250-year journey while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.

A heartfelt thank you to the six hikers who joined me. Your enthusiasm, teamwork, and positive spirit made this a memorable day. Every hike reminds me how fortunate we are to belong to such an amazing hiking community.

If you've ever thought about becoming an ADK hike leader, we'd love to welcome you! Our leaders are always happy to mentor and support new volunteers who want to share their passion for the outdoors.

Here's to celebrating our nation's history, making new memories, and continuing to explore one trail at a time!

Happy Hiking! 🇺🇸🥾
