Behind every successful national event are firefighters who step up to serve, often without recognition.

For more than 20 years, members of Summit's Firefighters - FMBA 54 have proudly assisted the Operations Team and Operations Command Staff during the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This year's ceremony honored the firefighters lost in 2025, ensuring they and their families received the respect and dignity they deserve.

We are proud to recognize the members of Team Summit who represented both their Local and the New Jersey fire service:

Joe Wurtzbacher, Josh Evers, Brian Harnois, Eric Evers, Rick DeGroot, Paul Imbimbo, Nick Ciraco, Matt Lemons, Matt Klapper, and Mike Tomich.

Thank you for your continued commitment to honoring our fallen brothers and sisters and for more than two decades of dedicated service to this important mission.

The 24th Annual NJ FMBA Fallen Heroes 5K Memorial Run is more than just another event. It’s one of the most important traditions of our organization.

Each year, we come together to honor the memory of those we’ve lost, support their families, and demonstrate the strength of the New Jersey fire service. This year, as we recognize the 25th anniversary of 9/11, that mission carries even greater meaning.

We’re asking every NJ FMBA Local to step up and be part of it.

Register a team. Bring your members. Most importantly, consider becoming an event sponsor. Sponsorships from our Locals are a visible commitment to remembering our fallen brothers and sisters and ensuring this event continues to grow for years to come.

Let’s make this year’s Fallen Heroes 5K the largest and strongest in its history.

A major milestone for NJ FMBA Local 359!

Local 359, representing EMTs with Monmouth County EMS (MedStar), has officially secured its first collective bargaining agreement.

This was a full-team effort from the start. The NJ FMBA Organizing Committee helped build the foundation, and the Labor Committee stepped in during negotiations to provide the experience, strategy, and support needed to move the process forward.

The result is a strong first contract that delivers meaningful raises, back pay, improved working conditions, and a solid foundation for the future of Local 359.
Congratulations to the members of Local 359 for staying together, staying focused, and seeing this through. This is exactly what union representation is supposed to look like!

For Locals preparing for negotiations or looking for support, reach out to the NJ FMBA and get the right people involved early.
