Paying it Forward Beading

Paying it Forward Beading This page was created in hopes of bringing awareness to the battles many veterans & military members deal with everyday. This is my story, my battle.

www.payingitforwardbeading.com My name is Anita and this is my story. Retired after 20 years of military service because my unit had no idea what to do with an E7 with severe/chronic PTSD. Losing my flight, my troops and my responsibilities within a year of diagnosis was terrible and left me without a purpose, so I did the only thing I could...retire. When I

was receiving treatment for PTSD, I found that creating beaded items keep a lot of the symptoms at bay. So once I retired, it was the only thing that helped ground me. Especially since I stopped all meds and counseling. Now I craft and create in order to help me heal and to share the items with any and all. This allows me to share my story and bring awareness to PTSD and all the things that come with it. Thank you all

Hey y'all. So I have gone through all my large scrap pieces and think its time to cut into my fabric yards. Maybe these will be the start of new batches of composition notebook covers.
Got some responses back today and unfortunately they all need large quantities which I cannot provide. One did say they are willing to take a few so I will get with them later.
Gonna start with the fabric that has just a yard and prep that so I can have something to work on until its time to close up before picking up Cam this afternoon.
Hope your day is going well. Have a great rest of your day and remember to check on your people.

Hey y'all. What a week we are having here. Cam is taking a driving class so I am taking him to and from it each day, its 30 minutes from our house so its a drive! I get home, get coffee and hit the studio for sewing time. Been prepping fabrics for the notebook covers and making calls to Vet centers unfortunately no one has taken interest in them so I am gonna figure something else out. I love making them so gonna keep doing that til I run out of composition notebooks because I have a bit of them. Still have some other folks that I am waiting on call backs from so fingers crossed.
Hope y'all have been having a great week. The weather here has been crazy pants but my garden loves it so yay. Next week is full of medical appointments so I am doing what I can to just get some crafting time in now.
Y'all have a great day and remember to check on your people.

Hey y'all. I ended up playing with a few fabrics yesterday and these are what I ended up with. I am grabbing some more fabrics that have been sitting on my shelf for a while and will be making some more of these.
What I love about this pattern is it does not need any interfacing and cutting fabrics is pretty straight forward. No curves to sew, no small parts really and just easy to do.
I have to find my ribbon stash though, cant remember where I put it. I still have a nice stack of composition notebooks from my Walter Reed donation days that I can use to put together in the covers and reach out to some local Veteran groups and see if they need these for their folks. For now this will help me craft for a purpose.
What do you think of these??

So glad I held onto this fabric. Perfect size for this project and it showcases the amazing colors and pattern. I had just enough for two covers. Ended up extending the inside pockets because it feels a bit sturdier and changed which side the pen holder sits.
This project lets me clear out some of my larger scrap fabrics that have been sitting in a bin under my work table and work with fabrics that have larger patterns that are not great for smaller projects. I have some fun fabrics that I can work with now and hope to get them out soon.
Unfortunately this weather is making the migraine worse that i woke up with so time to shut down the studio. If I end up getting a good stack of these made up, they will be added to the shop so keep an eye out.
Have a great weekend y'all and remember to check on your people.

Hey y'all. Made it into the studio to work on things. Not really wanting to make anything that requires too much brain work just something that I can make easily and decided on this. Love making composition notebook covers. I have made so many variations of these and this is the simplest. Just a cover, pen/pencil holder and ribbon. Nothing fancy, just a cover to keep the notebook safe.
Use to make these and add daily prompts for journaling. Just to give anyone who wanted to write things but not knowing what to write. Seems like so many years ago, which it was but I remember making journaling boxes and sending them out to anyone who needed them. People who reached out, not asking but hinted at their struggles.
Many just hinted how things just were hard, something was off or just in their message how their usual writing just didnt have the same method. I picked up on it. No brainer for me I built a package and sent it with a note that said write what you cannot say. It doesnt have to be for anyone but you. If you dont know what to write use the prompt and go from there.
Sometimes we need that, someone to notice. Someone to listen. Not to be there in the stillness and be that presence and show they are here.
This weekend will be hard for many. It will be a trigger. Words will not mean anything, heck even actions will be triggers. There will always be the noise, there will always be a war within and you cannot tell them to just let it go. I am in my space that I can lock out the world. The noise is being pushed back a bit and drowned out a bit. Never quieted.
Memorial Day is to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Honor them. Honor those who loved them. Give them their space and give them that time.
Live so that the memory of their sacrifice can never be forgotten and remember to check on your people.

Hey y'all. So yesterday did not go as planned, which is how things usually go. The other day one of the rear windows on Ash's car decided it did not want to stay up and he had an appointment to get it looked at. Well he was not gonna make it so off I went to go grab his car from work, drive it into town and make the appointment. By the time I got home I was tired, pained and just exhausted. Ash unfortunately had to be smooshed in my little car which made me feel bad. His car still has a non functioning window but the parts are ordered and now we wait. I tell ya just when you think things are going good here comes an obstacle. It has been one thing after another the past couple of months. Really ready for a bit of smooth sailing right now.
We have weather coming in so not sure if I am gonna do anything, I just finished my coffee thinking about trying to force some food in me but not really wanting to eat. Have zero energy really and no motivation.
Just in an odd headspace but need to do something. Might just hit the studio and organize some fabrics, clean up a bit of things that have just been set in there. Mindless tasks that dont really need too much brain power.
Y'all have a great day and remember to check on your people.

Morning y'all. Got these bookmarks dropped off the other day and then just became a hermit. My back has been acting up so I became one with my couch lol.
Hope y'all are all doing well this week and ready for the weekend. Since my back is still an issue I am just gonna be doing basic house chores and resting.
Y'all have a great day and remember to check on your people.

Good morning y'all. Getting some admin work done so I can keep operating legally. Even though most programs are on pause while I get my health under control that does not mean I can let all the paperwork take a pause.
While I am not a 501(c)3 nonprofit, I am a certified nonprofit in the state of North Carolina and will do everything required to maintain that certification. That includes maintaining a solicitation license to ensure all funds that come into the the nonprofit go back into the nonprofit.
Did you know that you can visit your state charity page and see where all the money that you donate to a charity goes? Yes you can! Visit the Secretary of State website, Charity section and search for that charity. You can even see their annual financial report that shows how much money that they get and where it all goes. Very informative.
Anyway that is what I am doing while my amazing husband does yard work on his day off. Energy is still an issue, not much pain today just very uncomfortable. Gonna get this all done and filed away then work on a few more admin things before deciding on whether or not I want to drop off some bookmarks.
Have a great morning y'all and remember to check on your people.

Here is the first scrappy mug parts we will be working with. I will have contrasting colors mixed with it maybe, not sure yet gonna iron them all out and see what I am working with. The shadow on the ironing board is an oooppsie from a sublimation project I was working on and silly me with all the brain fog forgot to use butcher paper to protect my ironing board. It still works but its just got a shadow lol.
Let's see what I got once I have these ironed out, hoping to have mug rugs around 6x9 ish or a bit smaller but not larger want to be able to mail them in an envelope and not a package to save on shipping.
