It's September 1st, which means it's time for this month's Employee Spotlight!

This month's spotlight is Elizabeth Licciardone! Elizabeth has been a lead preschool teacher at LVCC for almost 17 years, and she also works as a Recreation Instructor. Elizabeth says the highlight of her day working here is getting to spend time with the children, have fun, and watch them learn and grow! When she's not in the classroom, Elizabeth loves spending her free time reading and traveling with her family.

Be sure to check out some more fun facts about Elizabeth below in this month's Employee Spotlight!

What do you enjoy most about working here?
All of the people—my co-workers, the children, and their families.

What’s something unique about our center that you love?
I love the fact that this building is over 100 years old. It has so much character, and I love that it was one of the original elementary schools in Purcellville and the first community center in Loudoun County.

What’s your favorite song to play when you need a pick-me-up at work?
In our classroom, we play a lot of Disney songs, so my favorite pick-me-up song is “Try Everything” by Shakira from the movie Zootopia.

What’s your dream job (other than this one, of course!)?
Working in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the first fun thing you’d buy?
A Corvette for my husband and a house in Golden Oak.

Due to our preschool open house, there will be no drop-in basketball tonight. Thank you for your understanding.

It's August 1st, and this month's employee spotlight is Erin Dunbar!

Erin started subbing in November of 2022, and this fall she will begin her fourth year as a Lead Preschool Teacher. Erin shared that the highlight of her day is seeing students laugh and have fun because every preschooler should enjoy their time at school.

When Erin is not in the classroom, she loves to spend her free time running, lifting, reading, watching tv and movies, and of course spending time with her kids when they aren’t busy doing their own thing!

Be sure to check out some more fun facts about Erin below in this month’s Employee Spotlight!

- What do you enjoy most about working here? I love being at work, and not many people can say that. I genuinely look forward to seeing my coworkers, greeting families, helping out around the center, and most importantly, having a part in making each day a happy one for our students!

- How do you like to connect with the community through your work? I love meeting the families and patrons at the community center. Whether it’s parents coming in with their littles, community members using our facility, or summertime staff and kids coming in for camps, it’s wonderful to have those interactions and help make their experience at LVCC great!

- What’s your comfort TV show or movie you can watch over and over? The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Lord of the Rings movie series! My kids and I all love them, so we have watched them many times over the years.

- Do you have a favorite season or holiday at the center, and why?I’m a cold weather gal, so I love the fall-winter season! I love Christmas and Halloween, and the decorations and music and festivities we have at the center are so much fun for the kids!

- What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? That I shouldn’t stress about things I can’t change and I should have faith that God will guide me to where I’m meant to be. It’s very freeing to just give it to God and have that trust.

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) has canceled all outdoor programs and activities scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, due to the Code Purple Air Quality Alert issued for the metropolitan Washington region. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s air quality forecasts for Northern Virginia are for Code Red or Code Purple.

As a result of the unhealthy air quality forecasts, all athletic fields, outdoor pools and splash pads will be closed on Friday, July 17, 2026. In addition, all PRCS outdoor camps hosted in Loudoun County have been moved indoors or canceled.

Residents should postpone visits to Loudoun County parks, playgrounds and other PRCS outdoor facilities due to the unhealthy air quality. Loudoun PRCS indoor programs provided at indoor spaces will continue as scheduled.

All sporting events hosted at PRCS athletic fields and outdoor pools are canceled on Friday, July 17.

Loudoun PRCS regrets any inconvenience, but operational adjustments are warranted for the safety of Loudoun County residents.
