We are pleased to announce that the Foundation recently awarded $3,000 to Washington High School in Charles Town, WV. This award will be distributed in the following manner: $1,000 to the Vocal Music Boosters as the first of five yearly awards to support the restoration of the piano the Foundation previously donated to the vocal music program; and $2,000 to the Band Boosters for the acquisition of music literature for the Washington High School Marching Patriots, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Combos. Later this year, we will again be presenting the Pete Durand individual awards.

Please join our foundation and support the passage of HB 81 which abolishes the common law crime of su***de.
Currently, in Virginia, su***de is considered a crime, and those that die by su***de are considered criminals by the Commonwealth of Virginia. This can be devastating to family and friends when they realize their loved ones are considered criminals. It also creates a higher likelihood that police investigative files could be released to non-family members. As Pete's Mom, I have experienced first-hand the pain of knowing my son is considered a criminal by the state of Virginia because of this law. I have also recently experienced the trauma of having sensitive information including Pete's private su***de notes released, without my permission or knowledge which is something that no parent should have to endure.

We are pleased to announce the recent awarding of two grants. A $2,000.00 grant was awarded to the Loudoun Valley High School Music Parents Association. The award will be used to help pay necessary band fees for those students who need assistance. Secondly, a $1,000 award was granted to a local music student that excels in guitar and will be used toward future guitar and voice training lessons. Each time we are able to present an award, it is very heartwarming and is a tribute to Peter's love of music. No matter how large or small an award is, every recipient is so appreciative.
