Alright everybody, get your taste buds ready cause the pancakes are about to start flowing!! THIS WEEKEND we will be serving up our famous and highly coveted pancakes and it's "Gonna be a good day"! Come by Station 1 and see our firefighters, look around the station, take a look at the trucks, it's fun for all ages. We look forward to see you!!!

📄 Fire Sales Tax – Facts from the Official Resolution

To help ensure our community has access to accurate information, we encourage residents to review the official documents available in the District’s Transparency Center.

In November 2020, Pueblo West voters approved a temporary 1% Fire Sales Tax (Ballot Question 6A). As reflected in Resolution No. 2020-088, the voter approved tax was authorized for Fire Protection purposes, including:
• Construction of a fire station
• Fire Department staffing
• Fire Department expenses

The Resolution directed the State of Colorado Department of Revenue to begin collecting the tax on January 1, 2021, with a scheduled sunset date of December 31, 2030.

We encourage community members to review the Resolution and related materials directly in the District Transparency Center to find the facts and understand how voter approved funds were authorized to be used.

Pueblo West Fire Department, in collaboration with the Pueblo West Metro District, is seeking community members to serve on the Fire Sales Tax Oversight Committee.

This citizen committee helps provide oversight and transparency regarding how fire protection sales tax funds are used to support fire services in Pueblo West.

ℹ️ Fire Department Sales Tax – Voter Information

Pueblo West voters passed a temporary 1% sales tax (one penny on a $1 purchase) - dedicated funds supporting the Pueblo West Fire Department. The ballot language allows the funds to be used for multiple fire department needs, not solely fire station construction.

The ballot language specifies that the tax revenue may be used for:
• Construction of a new fire station in the southwest portion of Pueblo West
• Staffing a new fire station with additional firefighters
• Capital equipment and fire related projects
• Maintenance and upkeep of fire department and fire protection resources

To ensure transparency and accountability, the ballot language also requires the creation of a Citizens Oversight Committee, which would annually review and report to the public on how the tax revenues are used.
