Kiwanis Club of Ascension in Ascension Parish, Louisiana

Kiwanis Club of Ascension in Ascension Parish, Louisiana Kids are curious, lovable and hilarious. They are also wild, impatient and vulnerable. Help us look out for kids in Ascension Parish and around the globe.

We meet the first and third Wednesday of each month at Frank’s in Prarieville at 6:30 pm. Kids need Kiwanis. Kiwanis needs you. Some kids are hungry. Some kids need help learning to read. Others need mentors in their community. You can help improve these issues and more – one child at a time. Your support and participation help kids realize a brighter tomorrow. National Cancer Survivors Day 2026 was celebrated on June 7, honoring millions of individuals living with a history of cancer.
The day emphasizes awareness about life after cancer, recognizing the challenges survivors face, and promotes continued innovation in survivorship research. Events were held globally to celebrate survivors' strength and resilience. Shannon Riley the Kiwanis Club of Ascension and Trudy Dupuy, Kiwanis Club of Central volunteered at the Mary Bird Perkins•Cancer Services, Celebration of Life Survivors Event. Shannon greeted survivors at the registration table and Trudy helped serve lunch with a smile. Both ladies were honored to have the opportunity to serve.

Bike giveaway day part two ~. We met with our last two BUGs students at Walmart for bicycle shopping! 48 third grade students were recognized and celebrated at our BUGs (Bring Up Grades) party at Bluff Ridge Primary. Along with other prizes, ten lucky students won bicycles just in time for the summer. This project was made possible by the generous sponsors of our annual bowling tournament and through a grant from the LAMISSWTENN District Foundation. Kiwanis members Boni, Donna and Tiffany were happy to meet with these two deserving students and families to celebrate their achievements. This is certainly what Kiwanis is all about- serving the children of the world!
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. Congratulations to all of the BUGs students for working so hard to Bring Up Grades!

Many thanks to LAMISSTENN Vice-Governor candidate John Gherardi for making the trip to come share his goals and vision for our district. John is the Region VI trustee and has been an active member of Kiwanis clubs in several districts since 1988. John’s motto is, “Our Mission is Possible.” We enjoyed hearing about his Kiwanis story from over the years. The election will take place at our district convention in Kenner July 31-August 2. It was fun having so many friends join us for this special program.
