SUFFOLK, VA (April 2, 2026) The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Norfolk District Office, Suffolk Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) conducted a joint investigation targeting a notorious drug trafficking organization operating within Virginia’s Hampton Roads area. This investigation resulted in the seizure of 159 kilograms of co***ne, valued at approximately six million dollars, from a location in Suffolk, Virginia, believed to be associated with this organization's illicit activities.
“Through this successful investigation, it has been proven that when agencies work together big things can happen,” Suffolk Police Chief James D. Buie said. “Hampon Roads is much safer today due to the hard work and dedication of the men and women involved in this investigation.”
"This investigation stands as a testament to the hard work and dedication demonstrated by DEA and its partner agencies, culminating in a significant victory against drug trafficking in the Hampton Roads community and beyond,” stated DEA Special Agent in Charge Christopher Goumenis. "This operation highlights the steadfast commitment of DEA and its partners to stopping and dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding our citizens."
“Customs and Border Protection officers remain committed to working with our law enforcement partners to stop the scourge of dangerous drugs from decimating our communities,” said Keri Brady, CBP’s Area Port Director in Norfolk. “This seizure should put drug trafficking organizations on notice that Hampton Roads is now a more difficult place for them to peddle their poison.”
The operation's successful outcome highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling complex drug trafficking networks. The DEA Norfolk District Office, Suffolk Police Department, and CBP remain committed to working together in future operations aimed at safeguarding the Hampton Roads area.
