Hi! I’m Emma, and I’ve been Hope Acts’ communications intern this summer. This week, I had the opportunity to present my summer work at USM, where I’m a senior marketing major.

Hope Acts has given me the opportunity to dive into the nonprofit world over the past few months—from helping promote Celebrating Home to crafting email newsletters for our amazing supporters (and lots more in between!).

It’s been an incredible summer, and I’m honored to continue this important work throughout the fall. ❤️

Celebrating in a Time of Grief

After the dreadful events in Biddeford this past Monday, how can we possibly think about having a Celebration next week? The answer to us is simple. We need to be in community -- all of us who are working every day to support each other, fighting for justice, human rights and so much more.

We grieve for Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, the young man senselessly gunned down by ICE on Monday. Who among us can stop thinking about his young daughter who witnessed this horror and who will grow up without her dad. Our hearts are broken. Our resolve is not. Hope Acts, with your continued support, will be here for every asylum seeker who comes to us for assistance.

Celebrating Home is a celebration. Yes, we are celebrating special milestones for Hope Acts, but we are also celebrating each of you.

Hope House is set to reopen September 1, and we want to celebrate this milestone with you at our summer fundraiser – Celebrating Home.

Everyone deserves a place to call home, and this event celebrates the impact that safe, stable housing has on the lives of asylum seekers in our community. In addition, all ticket sales will go directly to our housing stabilization and homelessness prevention programs.

Enjoy an evening of food & drinks, and a special performance by Pihcintu, the Maine-based multinational girls chorus, accompanied by the Akiwacu Band.
