Howdy y’all.

Portland is getting a cold front this week, and as many of you know, a lot of folks are staying outside. This weather is deadly, and we are doing a push to get folks better cold weather gear and survival supplies.

If you have any winter or camping gear, please reach out to us so we can get that and distribute it to those who truly need it. Venmo’s are also very helpful.

Solidarity,
PCMA

The temps are dropping FAST 🥶 If you have any of the above or non-perishable food (granola bars, cans with pull tabs, etc), please consider donating to our unhoused neighbors. We distribute much needed survival gear every Sunday from 1-2p across from the Oxford Street Shelter. We’ll be collecting donations next Saturday 12/17 at our fundraiser at .events from 6p until late, or DM if you have goods to give but can’t make it!

ALSO our lil free store crew is looking for help. If you want to show your neighbors you care, please swing by and say hi! We live in a society where basic needs are not a human right. We'd love to have more people involved, especially people who want to help build sustainable mutual aid for the long haul. A people-driven revolution of care needs people like you. Solidarity not charity.

THANK YOU! We’re just shy of our initial goal of $5k in just a week 🖤 Thanks to y’alls generous contributions and ample boosts, we feel comfortable enough to raise our goal to $10k to cover the cost of solar panels and teaching stipends. As part of the pantry’s construction, we’ve partnered with .this to host frame to finish building workshop! We’d like to offer our instructors something for their time— simple as that :) While a lot of the build will be done in the workshops, there will be plenty of volunteer days too for those with the skills to donate their time. More details to come later! If you have the means please consider donating, link in bio ^^

Some of our members have been hard at work developing a mobile free pantry for our community, and now they need YOUR help! Much like other "little free" projects, the pantry and fridge will be open to the entire community to contribute to, as well as take from. Plus it'll be mobile to serve multiple neighborhoods throughout Portland. The goal is to offer many of the necessary essentials offered at free store (such as survival gear, clothes, hygiene products, sharps collection, Narcan, OTC meds and wound care, as well as food items), but with the understanding that we are depending on community engagement for the pantry to be full.

We've already been graciously donated an 8'x16' trailer bed to build on. We're now raising $5k to cover the remainder of the construction cost and any incidentals. We'd love to get the pantry built by summer 2023. If this project speaks to you, please consider donating— see link in bio :)

❤️ Mother's Day free store! ❤️ The PCMA crew (including some new volunteers) showed up to distribute hygiene items, medical supplies, coffee, and food—including coffee cake, soup, and a variety of homemade rice, beans, and meat dishes. Big shoutout to our volunteer community and donors, as well as the generosity of organizations that support us like and !

We are looking to shore up our capacity! Our work takes a huge amount of effort, and not just on the weekend—there are critical tasks that have to happen all through the week to make everything possible. Please consider getting in touch via DM to volunteer with us! There are all kinds of ways to pitch in.

And if you can't give your time and energy, you can also donate to us through our Venmo (-mutualaid) or donor box (link in bio). Our funds go toward non-perishable foods, OTC medications, and important supplies like tents and sleeping bags.
