Juneteenth events are being hosted throughout our community so Mainers of all backgrounds can join in the celebration and develop a deeper understanding of the holiday.

🍕 Meet us for pizza at Flatbread Company Portland Maine next Tuesday, June 23! A portion of all sales at this Community Bake Night will benefit United Way of Southern Maine and our work to advance health, youth opportunity, and financial security for all.

One week until Day of Action! 💪✨️ Hundreds of volunteers will spend the day at non-profits across Southern Maine painting, organizing, gardening, and more--so non-profits can devote more time to serving our community.

📢 Favorite children's book recs–GO! Send us your suggestions for great kids' books, whether they are familiar classics or new faves, picture books or chapter books.

We are stocking up on books for Read Away, a program that helps kids stay connected with incarcerated mothers through reading. Moms record themselves reading a book, and then we send the child a care package with the book, toys or art supplies, and a link to the recording—helping both mother and child feel more connected.

You can also make a gift to support the program. $30 helps send a care package to a local kid: uwsme.org/readaway.

This is dedicated to Maine Community Bank! This steadfast United Way partner supports our work to help Mainers achieve financial security so they can build strong futures.

A few highlights this year:
✨ Took a bite out of hunger at the United We CAN Sculpture Contest.
✨ Made a $10,000 contribution to the Housing Crisis Response Fund to keep Mainers safe and housed.
✨ Supported CA$H Greater Portland's interpretation and translation services
✨ Hosted a fun employee giving campaign to raise money for our community.
