Everyone denied him his second chance. Some rescues even told his family to euthanize him. 💔
So we welcomed him with open arms.
Meet Maverick — a 9-year-old GSD/Malamute mix, pushing 120 lbs and approximately 47 lbs of that is probably fluff. 😂
Maverick knew one family his entire life. Then, through circumstances completely beyond their control, his family lost everything and was faced with the heartbreaking reality of having to rehome Maverick and his two canine siblings.
They reached out to rescues across Florida, praying someone would help.
They were honest about Maverick’s behavioral history — and instead of asking questions, trying to understand him, or looking for the why behind those behaviors, they were met with rejection after rejection.
Until their text came through to Three Stooges Rescue.
We wanted to know more.
What happened? What were his triggers? What did the behavior actually look like? What was the environment when it happened? Who was Maverick when he wasn’t in those situations?
After a couple days of conversations, we asked his family to bring him to meet us.
And Maverick did BEAUTIFULLY.
No reactivity toward a new person. No scary introduction. No monster everyone needed to be afraid of.
Instead, we met a sweet, fluffy giant offering hand licks and brushing his massive body against his new rescue mama for affection. 🥹
It has now been 3 days, and so far Maverick has shown us nothing but sweetness.

He still needs his vaccines and a full veterinary workup, and we’ll continue taking our time getting to know him. We will never pretend three days tells us everything there is to know about a dog.
But Maverick deserved someone willing to ask the questions before deciding his life wasn’t worth saving.
Now he needs a foster home where he can decompress, relax, and finally feel secure while we continue learning who he is.
