Kitsap Rescue Mission

Kitsap Rescue Mission Located in Kitsap, KRM provides reliable, welcoming shelter to vulnerable individuals. They are food, shelter and safety.

With every individual that is in distress, there are three basic needs that must be met first. Without these three items in place nothing else matters. KRM has been providing the first item, food, since its inception in 2009. In 2011 we took a bigger role to meet the other two basic need of shelter and safety. Today, we are operating a 24 hour shelter, providing our guests with more opportunity th

an ever before. If you're looking for a way to be on the mission with us and would like to volunteer, please email [email protected].

In 2025, 72 guests of the Kitsap Rescue Mission transitioned from homelessness to safe, permanent housing. Not everyone wants to share their journey, and that is ok. The stories we share today on the day of the Kitsap Great Give are blessings. Each one of these wonderful people gave permission to share their journey.

Sherie's success story is the 4th in this series, from March 28, 2025.

Sherie, a strong, independent and motivated mom, arrived at KRM in February 2025. During her brief stay with us she was able to find employment and a home for her and her wonderful children outside of Kitsap County in March 2025.

Due to the generosity of our volunteers and donors we were able to provide Sherie with a Moving on Box for her and her family. We want to wish her well on her next adventure and it was a pleasure to work with her.

Congrats Sherie!

Thank you, donors, all the thoughtful donations made the transition into their new home a joy.

Your support makes stories like this possible. When we all give what we can, it adds up to so much! Please donate today.

Did you know that the Kitsap Rescue Mission at our new location in Port Orchard is able to accept pets that belong to our guests?

One big reason people may refuse to enter shelters is because they don't want to give up their pets. If you are a pet lover, you know what pain that might cause someone to give up their pet.

Here is guest (and pet) success story #3 today. Jeff Sanders, his case manager shared this story on June 18, 2025.

We would like to introduce you to Kevin and Evergreen. Kevin has devoted his life to helping others who were experiencing homelessness (like himself) for almost a decade. He is well known for advocating for those without a voice in our community and for giving everything to those who had less than he did.

I have known Kevin for all those years but haven't had the privilege of working with him one-on-one until he enrolled in our program. Since he has come to The Pacific Building 111 days ago, he has worked diligently with Kitsap Rescue Mission staff to start building a foundation to which led him to permanent safe housing.

Kevin was chosen by Pendleton Place who is one of our community partners that supports those who are unhoused. We would like to celebrate Kevin and Evergreen in their new forever home.

Please join us in congratulation Kevin and Evergreen with their new permanent home!

We call that a double win! Won't you give a gift today via the Kitsap Great Give to help more people, and their pets, find permanent, affordable and sustainable housing right here in our community?

As you may know, today is the Kitsap Great Give. Kitsap Rescue Mission is participating in this one day giving event, hosted by the Kitsap Community Foundation.

Our goal this year is to raise $15,000.00 to help our guests in 2026. As of this post, we are currently at $4,758.00.

We LOVE our donors and are so thankful for each and every one of our supporters. YOU are the reason we can help people transition from homelessness to permanent, affordable and sustainable housing.

More good news from 2025. Here is success story #2, Jamie.

Jamie arrived at Kitsap Rescue Mission on 5/22/25 and started working with us on supportive services and housing. She had already been working with the Catholic Community Services HEN program.

During her 67 days with us she was able to secure safe affordable housing in Kitsap County on 7/28/25. Kitsap Rescue Mission was able to provide Jamie with a Moving On Box to assist her with her basic needs. We would like to celebrate Jamie and wish her well on her new adventure.

Please join us in congratulating Jamie! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸ™Œ

Today, we'll be sharing 4 guest success stories with you as today is the Kitsap Great Give.

David's story is the first.

In February 2025, Kitsap Rescue Mission had the privilege of meeting David.

During his time with us, he showed nothing but patience and kindness to everyone around him.

In November 2025, we celebrated his success as he moved into his new home with the support of Pendleton Place. Congratulations, David β€” we wish you all the very best in this next chapter!

Please give David a "thumbs up" or a positive comment for his success!

A special thank-you to Destiny Colon, his Housing Navigator, and Jeff Sanders, his Case Manager, for their dedication and support along the way.

Do you worry about the people experiencing homelessness in Kitsap and Mason counties? Does it hurt your heart to see people in cold or bad weather sitting by the side of the road with a sign and their belongings?

There exists a pathway to transition individuals experiencing homelessness into permanent, affordable housing, provided they are willing to embrace change.

Families need not reside in automobiles or temporary shelters, and elderly individuals can be assured warmth and safety. Comprehensive support is available for those seeking recovery from trauma, mental health challenges, or substance use disorders.

Since 2009, Kitsap Rescue Mission has been dedicated to assisting individuals in Kitsap County who are experiencing homelessness. The organization has evolved from its initial efforts of meal service into a robust, compassionate community, offering continuous-stay emergency shelter and a wide range of wrap-around services. These offerings instill hope, dignity, and provide a pathway toward self-sufficiency.

Our programs work.

Today you can make a donation through the Kitsap Great Give to support our life changing work.
