Lighthouse

Lighthouse Lighthouse endeavors to build equitable communities that alleviate poverty. Many of these people are seeking help for the first time.

With over 80 years of combined experience, Lighthouse aims to be a Beacon of Hope to our neighbors who need us the most. Families turn to us seeking support for the most basic of needs such as food or shelter. The new Lighthouse will leverage the best of both agencies, providing direct services (food, shelter, rental/utility and other financial assistance, clothing, crisis referrals) and stability

and housing programs that develop and support self-sufficiency. Lighthouse’s vision is to solve the problems of poverty and homelessness by building affordable housing in local communities and by providing people with the resources, relationships, and skills they need to better themselves.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Hazel and Alice Nicosia as our 2026 Future Changemakers Award recipients!

What started as an idea from Hazel as a young child has grown into "Little Friendsgiving", an annual Thanksgiving food drive that brings together friends, families, classmates, and neighbors to support Lighthouse.

Over the years, Hazel and Alice have helped collect more than 10 tons of food for local families experiencing food insecurity. From canvassing neighborhoods to sorting, packing, and loading donations, these sisters are proving that you’re never too young to make a difference.

Thank you, Hazel and Alice, for inspiring your community to give back and showing us what it means to be future changemakers!

Genisys Credit Union has been showing up for years. 💙

This year alone, their team has donated over 162 volunteer hours to Lighthouse. They have supported us through donations, drives, and consistent hands-on service for years. In 2022, they won our Mission Possible award, recognition of their deep commitment to our community.

We are especially grateful for Jackie Buchanan, Genisys President and CEO, a former Lighthouse board chair who has remained a dedicated partner and advocate. Thank you, Genisys, for your continued support. You are a model of what community partnership looks like!

We’re proud to celebrate Bosch USA as a 2026 Community Partner Award recipient!

For nearly a decade, Bosch has partnered with Lighthouse to help turn over units at our Family Shelter and, in years past, PATH (Pontiac Area Transitional Housing). Their teams roll up their sleeves to paint, clean, complete maintenance projects, and make spaces feel like home.

But they don’t stop there. Bosch goes the extra mile by adding artwork, decorations, household essentials, and thoughtful touches that help create a welcoming space for families starting their next chapter.

Thank you, Bosch, for being such a hands-on and dedicated partner to Lighthouse and the families we serve!

Thank you to the team from Granger Construction Company!

Twenty volunteers spent time at our headquarters, contributing 70 hours of support across multiple departments. One group tackled outdoor cleanup and weeding to help us prepare for Dream Cruise. Another team stepped into our afternoon pantry shift, keeping up with demand. A third group handled behind-the-scenes work, organizing Christmas in July items, taking inventory, prepping the shop, writing letters, and more.

We are grateful for partners who bring energy, flexibility, and a willingness to help where it is needed most. Thank you for showing up and making a difference across so many areas of our work.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Troy First United Methodist Church as our 2026 Community Partner Award recipient!

Troy First UMC has shown up for Lighthouse in meaningful ways for many years. Parishioners volunteer at our Pontiac food pantry on the third Monday of every month, making them one of our most reliable and engaged volunteer groups.

During the holiday season, Troy First UMC went above and beyond by adopting our entire Family Shelter through our Adopt a Family program. They’ve even helped families transition into permanent housing by purchasing furniture for their new homes!

Thank you, Troy First UMC, for being such a consistent, compassionate partner in our community. We’re grateful for all you do!

Help us celebrate all of our award winners on September 24 at Mission & Mingle! The event is free!
