Auburn Place is almost ready for residents. 🏠 💙

This project transforms a long vacant lot in Pontiac's Unity Park neighborhood into 54 apartments, all permanent supportive housing. It is designed for households earning 60% or less of the area median income, with on-site supportive services for families, seniors, and individuals transitioning out of homelessness.

Lease ups begin before the end of the year. By then, a lot that sat empty for years will be home.

This is part of Lighthouse's broader commitment to creating stable, thriving communities in Oakland County.

The Lighthouse team got a firsthand look at an incredible transformation happening right in our community. As you'll see in photos, we toured the historic Lee Plaza's stunning lobby, beautiful common areas, and 117 apartments across the first ten floors that will begin leasing at the end of this year.

Once the project is complete, more than $100 million will have gone into restoration to provide 182 affordable apartments in Detroit, including 65 homes coming to the top five floors when we close on financing in a few months.

Seeing this 1929 Art Deco landmark come back to life is a beautiful reminder of what happens when we invest in preservation and people. This massive restoration isn't just about restoring stunning architecture — it’s about dignity, stability, and community.

"It is profoundly moving to be part of something so transformational — not just for the seniors who will call this building home, but for the entire neighborhood," said Lighthouse CEO Ryan Hertz. "This historic restoration is a catalyst. The momentum from this incredible investment will uplift and benefit the entire surrounding community."

Our campus construction is going to another level.. literally. 🏗️ 💙

This project is part of Lighting the Way, Lighthouse's campaign to transform how our community responds to poverty and homelessness. It is about what becomes possible when services come together in one place.

The expanded campus will bring a new Family Emergency Shelter, a Family Amenities Center with an art room, library, and computer lab, a Dining Center, a Social Supermarket offering choice and dignity, an Economic Opportunity Center, and a Community Cafe for connection and volunteer engagement.

Today, we provide 25,000 nights of shelter per year. After expansion, that rises to 58,000. We currently shelter 247 individuals, which will grow to 858. Three out of four people in our shelter are children. More than 1 in 7 children in Oakland County do not have enough to eat. And 96% of families leaving our shelter transition into stable housing.

More space means more families get a safe place to sleep tonight and a real shot at tomorrow. That is what Lighting the Way is building toward.

Thank you to the team from SolvIT, Inc.! 💙

Sixteen volunteers split across two shifts in our food pantry, eight in the morning and eight in the afternoon. They arrived on time, ready to work, and stayed that way all day.

Together, they brought in deliveries, sorted food, stocked shelves, packed boxes, and distributed food to clients. Their combined contribution: 56 hours of service. We would welcome them back anytime!

Mission & Mingle, in motion. 💙

This is what community looks like. Volunteers, donors, partners, board members, and staff, all in one room, all here for the same reason: to build equitable communities that alleviate poverty in Oakland County.

We honored Pam Righter as our Volunteer of the Year for her 200+ hours at the Pontiac Pantry, Hazel and Alice Nicosia as our Future Changemakers for collecting more than 10 tons of food through Little Friendsgiving, and Patrice Rowbal with the Mission Possible Award for organizing neighborhood donation drives, including her Transport Drive that collected rolling suitcases for clients who walk home with groceries.

We also recognized our incredible Corporate Partner: Bosch USA and Community Partner: First United Methodist Church of Troy. Thank you to everyone who showed up, gave generously, and continues to stand with us!

1,500 cleaning kits. One incredible community partnership.

We’re so grateful to Amerilodge Group, in partnership with Hilton Hotels & Resorts and IHG Hotels & Resorts, for assembling more than 1,500 household cleaning kits for Lighthouse clients during their Annual Leadership Summit.

Each kit includes everyday essentials like laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap, cleaning supplies, paper products, and more. These everyday essentials make a meaningful difference for families building a fresh start!

Thank you to the team from PROFIL North America! 💙 Nine volunteers joined us in the food pantry and jumped right in on a busy day. They unloaded deliveries, packed produce and non-perishable foods, restocked shelves, and distributed food to our clients.

Together, they contributed over 31 hours of service. We are grateful for their hard work and would welcome them back anytime.

Bosch purchased back-to-school outfits and backpacks for the kids at PATH. Because of their generosity, those kids are starting the school year with new clothes, new backpacks, and one less thing to worry about.
