About Ilegal Dumping

November 2019, Pompano Beach – "The city officially launched its new anti-dumping program last week with a $3,000 check and a frying pan.
“Stop the trash TALK!” is a reward program designed to encourage residents to report illegal dumping, a problem that residents and officials say is a major problem here. The number to report dumping is 954-786-STOP [7867]."

If you testify you can earn $3,000.

IMPORTANT! ENJOY THE PARKS SAFELY!
While municipal pesticide policies for parks may not be mandatory, the environment necessitates proactive measures.

Fleas and ticks are active year-round in South Florida, with heightened activity between April and September.

Prevent a “tick” bite!
Ticks carry pathogens that may transmit various bacteria, viruses, and parasites to humans, causing diseases, and some may lead to death.

DISEASES TRANSMITTED BY TICK ARE:
Lyme Disease: The most common tick-borne illness in the U.S., caused by bacteria and often characterized by a bull's-eye rash.
Anaplasmosis/Ehrlichiosis: Bacterial infections that can cause fever, headache, and muscle aches.
Babesiosis: A parasitic infection that attacks red blood cells.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF): A serious bacterial disease that requires prompt treatment.
Powassan Virus: A rare but severe virus that can cause encephalitis.
Alpha-gal Syndrome: A serious allergic reaction to red meat triggered by the bite of a Lone Star tick.
Other Diseases: Bourbon virus, Colorado tick fever, Hart tick Relapsing fever, Heartland virus, Rickettsia Parkeri Rickettsiosis, Soft tick relapsing fever, STARI, and Tularemia.

Tick paralysis: people with tick paralysis can experience weakness or paralysis that gradually moves up the body. These symptoms can sometimes resemble other neurologic conditions (for example, Guillain-Barré syndrome or botulism). Patients typically regain movement within 24 hours of removing the tick.
