MEET DANIEL GONZALEZ!

This week, we're shining the AWANA Director spotlight on Daniel Gonzalez, our Trek Director, who is celebrating his 6th year serving in AWANA!

Daniel's heart for ministry is all about creating a place where students feel comfortable being themselves, asking tough questions, and growing in their relationship with Christ.

A Little About Daniel

Daniel is a South Florida native and newlywed! He and his wife, Allison, live in Sunrise and are looking forward to celebrating their anniversary in Greece!

Here are a few fun facts you might not know:
He loves EXTRA cheesy nachos!
He's an Eagle Scout!
He's a morning person who, despite his outgoing personality, is actually an introvert!

He enjoys hanging out with friends, grabbing good food, and apparently "cheering on the Florida Gators!"

One of Daniel's favorite Scriptures is Romans 8:38–39, a powerful reminder that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

His hope for every Trek student is that they understand a life-changing truth: "We didn't earn our salvation, and there's nothing we can do to make the Lord love us any more or any less. You're never too far away from Christ to pursue Him!"

And if there's one thing Daniel wants every Awana student to know, it's this: "Awana is a safe space to be bold, ask questions, and share your thoughts!"

Let's pray for Daniel and Allison as they enjoy this exciting new season of marriage! We're grateful for Daniel's heart for students, his leadership, and the joy he brings to our Awana family!

AWANA BIBLE CHARACTER DRESS UP NIGHT!

Monday, October 26

It's time to get creative, Awana families!

Come dressed as your favorite Bible character! We all know Noah, Moses, David, and Esther, but this year we want to challenge our clubbers to think outside the box!

What about Deborah, Gideon, Ruth, Barnabas, Lydia, or even Zacchaeus? There are so many incredible people in God's Word whose stories deserve to be told!

Why do we do this?

Because Awana is about so much more than memorizing Scripture. It's about helping children KNOW God's Word, understand His story, and discover how He used ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.

We hope this fun night encourages families to open their Bibles together, discover someone new, and learn how God worked through that person's life.

Here's our challenge: Don't just come dressed as a Bible character. Come ready to tell us who you are and something about your story!

We can't wait to see your creativity on Monday, October 26!

Meet Our Awana Directors!

We're excited to kick off a new series introducing you to the incredible directors who faithfully serve our Awana families each week!

Meet Miss Valerie from T&T!

Valerie is celebrating her 7th year serving in Awana! Her heart for ministry comes from her love for God and her passion for sharing His Word with children.

Valerie is married to Mr. Chad, who serves in Journey, and they have two children, CJ and Annabelle. Their family also includes two rescued furry friends, Stripes the cat and Rayo the puppy!

When she's not serving at Awana, you'll probably find her spending time with family and friends, enjoying the beach, or coaching basketball! She's passionate about the sport, loves Italian food, and dreams of visiting Italy someday. And if you're wondering about her favorite sweet treats, kettle corn and peanut M&M's are at the top of her list!

One of Valerie's most treasured Awana memories involves a fifth grader who seemed more interested in having fun than working through his lessons. One evening, he shared with the group that he had finally understood what Jesus had done for him on the cross and had given his heart to Christ.

He told the group, "I realized Awana is more than fun and games; it is actually a matter of life and death."

That moment has stayed with Valerie and reminds us why we do what we do. Awana is about so much more than games and memorizing verses. It's about helping children know Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him!

One of Valerie's favorite passages is Ecclesiastes 3, which reminds us that there is a season for everything under heaven.

What Does She Want Every Awana Child to Know?

"You are sooooo loved by God! And all of us here at Awana love you, care about you, and are here to laugh with you, cry with you, and celebrate every milestone in your life."

How Can We Pray for Miss Valerie?

Valerie asks for God's wisdom as she raises her children and carries out what she considers the most important responsibility God has entrusted to her.

We love celebrating these milestones, but even more, we love seeing young hearts growing in their knowledge and love for Jesus!

Look at these sweet Cubbies proudly wearing their vests!

There's something so special about watching our littlest clubbers begin their journey of learning God's Word and discovering just how much Jesus loves them.

These may be little vests, but they represent something BIG! Hearts are being shaped, seeds of faith are being planted, and a foundation is being built that we pray will last a lifetime.

We love celebrating these special milestones at Awana Calvary Chapel Plantation!
