When Norma first came to the Pregnancy Care Center of Plant City, she was filled with nervous anticipation. After experiencing serious complications during a previous pregnancy, doctors had once told her she would likely never be able to conceive again. So when she began to suspect she might be pregnant, she walked through our doors hoping for answers, but guarding her heart against disappointment.
Norma wasnβt alone that day. The father of the baby came with her and spent time speaking with one of our male advocates while Norma completed her intake and medical history. He was supportive and excited, but both of them were anxious to know the truth.
When the pregnancy test came back positive, tears immediately filled Normaβs eyes. What once felt impossible had suddenly become real. Overwhelmed with emotion, she smiled through tears as she realized she was going to have another baby.
As we talked through resources available to her β including our Earn While You Learn parenting program, OB referrals, WIC, Medicaid assistance, and ongoing support β Norma shared pieces of her story and her fears about the future. During her visit, she also opened up spiritually. She spoke about feeling distant from God after the hardships and disappointments she had experienced over the years. In that moment, our staff had the opportunity to encourage her, pray with her, and remind her that God had never left her side.
That conversation planted a seed of hope in Normaβs heart.
Norma agreed to have an ultrasound that same day, and seeing her baby on the screen made everything even more real. As she watched her child moving and growing, she became overwhelmed not only with gratitude, but with the realization that God had given her another chance β both physically and spiritually.
Over the months that followed, Norma faithfully attended classes at our center, earning points to help provide diapers, clothing, and baby essentials for her growing family. More importantly, she continued asking questions about faith, prayer, and what it meant to truly trust God. Through the relationships she built at the center, Norma recommitted her life to Christ and found a renewed sense of peace and purpose for herself and her family.
Norma recently gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Today, her daughter is four months old, and Norma continues to thrive as a confident and loving mother. Although her baby is still being monitored by doctors because of concerns regarding head size, Norma says she feels strong, hopeful, and deeply grateful for the support she received throughout her journey.
Stories like Normaβs remind us that the mission of the goes far beyond pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. Lives are being transformed emotionally, physically, and spiritually every single day.
