EAA Chapter 1178 Plant City Florida "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings...."

09/17/2026

Chapter 1178 will be flying Young Eagles on Saturday, 17 October.

The pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible. Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada. Flights are conducted according to federal regulations, and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed. A pilot's complete youth protection training and vetted via a background check.
What will the pre-flight be like?

The pilot will explain what your child will see and do. This may include explaining how airplanes work, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map), and describing the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel. Then comes the fun part: time to go flying!
Safety Reminders

Safety is always a top priority when it comes to aviation. Listen and follow instructions given by that pilot, stay away from the propellers, and stay with the pilot or ground crew at all times. Do not enter the ramp area unescorted.
What will the flight be like?

Young Eagles will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives!

EAA Mid-Florida Chapter 534 is excited to be celebrating a very special milestone this year — our 50th Anniversary!

Saturday, September 26, 2026
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Leesburg International Airport (KLEE)

Come hungry and enjoy blueberry or original pancakes, sausage links, coffee, and juice, while spending the morning talking airplanes, visiting our hangar, checking out our projects, meeting our members, and celebrating five decades of aviation fellowship.

For those flying in, aircraft parking will be available at the SunAir ramp (ramp fees waived). Those driving can access the event from Wilco Drive off US 441.

We would greatly appreciate it if you would share the attached flyer with your chapter members, include it in your newsletter or email list, and post it on your chapter’s social media pages. The more EAA friends we can bring together for our 50th, the better!

EAA is all about the people who share a love of aviation, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate 50 years than surrounded by fellow EAA members and friends from throughout Central Florida and beyond.

Fly in, drive in, bring your chapter, and come celebrate 50 years with EAA Chapter 534!

We hope to see you in Leesburg on September 26!

Blue skies,

This month the Free State of Florida enacted legislation to ensure ADS-B would only be used as intended, because of course it was being used for other things:

“An airport may not use information broadcast or collected by automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast systems … as a means for calculating, generating, and collecting fees from aircraft owners or operators who operate aircraft within the geographic boundaries of this state.”

Montana has enacted similar legislation.

Currently there is a bill in Congress, the Pilot and Aircraft Privacy Act, would create a federal law against using ADS-B data for profit.
