Here's the second half of the interview with John Glover from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy talking about how our dogs love to go to work.

John has served as one of the OG board members since we were founded. He is a huge dog lover, having rescued numerous for his own household and jumped at the chance to help rescue dogs and provide them at zero cost to agencies. John is a familiar face to any Indiana law enforcement officer as well and knows what a difference a solid police dog can make. Again thank you to Absorb Studios for your work on these videos!

Check out our new reel with our Vice President John Glover of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy explaining how much our dogs love to go to work!

We will be using some of these reels you'll be seeing over the next few weeks to help get the word out to about what it is we do to interested law enforcement agencies. Huge thanks to Absorb Studios for putting these together for us! Check it out and see which dogs you recognize!

"Dispatch, I was told there were cookies on this computer. I’ve been staring at this screen for 20 minutes and haven’t found a single one."

K9 Ranger may have misunderstood what that meant when he heard his mom say there were cookie settings on their car computer, but he's decided to stay locked in just in case it could mean a treat for him!

From being a nearly starved to death dog to now proudly serving with the Soddy Daisy Police, this good boy has come so far and makes us proud every day out there on patrol- even if he isn't quite ready for an IT career

BALL IS LIFE! Some dogs like tennis balls. K9 Teeko of the Roachdale Police Department - Indiana appears to have a legally binding, life-or-death relationship with his.

Somewhere along the way, Teeko went from an overlooked shelter dog at the Hendricks County Animal Shelter to a highly respected police K9 with a long list of arrests to his credit. But show him a tennis ball and you’d never know it. The eyes bulge, the brain shuts down, and all that stands between him and that ball is physics.

At Redemption Ranch, we look for BALL DRIVE. And we mean the kind of ball drive where the eyes bulge, the brakes fail, and every last brain cell clocks out the second that tennis ball comes into view.

Teeko was actually in our first ever class and we couldn't be prouder of him. Teeko understands the assignment and that tennis ball never stood a chance.

30 days. A new academy starts. 7 dogs will leave the darkness of their past behind and begin the hard road to becoming the K9s who hold the blue line between danger and the communities they serve.

Dogs that once faced an uncertain future will begin alongside the handlers who believe in them. There will be very long days full of exhaustion, frustration, confusion and setbacks. There will be moments when nothing seems to be clicking. The first few days are chaos, anarchy, a complete mess- and absolutely perfect. Because somewhere in that struggle, something incredible is going to happen.

A dog is going to figure it out. A handler is going to see something they never knew was there. And a dog that might have been written off by the world is going to discover what happens when somebody finally gives them a chance to be great.

Honestly that's the part I live for. Watching these dogs fight through the confusion, find their confidence, and give you more than you were asking for and realize they get it. That one rep where the human and the dog sync up and their handler realizes just how smart the dog actually is. The moment when the dog looks over their shoulder almost smiles and seems to say "oh that's what you want?"

Their past might explain how they got here, but it doesn’t get to dictate where they go next. Some were beaten, some were neglected, some were invisible, some were out of time- but all of them deserved a chance. These dogs all have a past, but in 30 days they start building a legacy.

The hill is steep, the days are long, and the work is hard. Good. We didn’t do this to take the easy road. So to our incoming handlers- remember why you took this path. Look at the life walking beside you that's alive today because of you. And then clip in, square your shoulders and let's climb this hill together. This picture is one of my favorites of my partner- and the reason why I started this program. Jocko's given me the highest highs of my life and some low points too. But it is ALWAYS worth it

From forgotten to fearless, from shelter to shield. One month can't come fast enough!

Some behind-the-scenes photos with our biggest fan Evan from this past week. We just finished filming a documentary about Evan’s involvement with the Ranch, the health challenges he’s overcome, and the difference he makes volunteering with us.

Evan is a vital part of our organization. Our dogs learn to track in real-world conditions and environments because the day they walk across that graduation stage, our pups are often the first to respond to calls involving missing children or endangered adults. Evan bridges that gap between theory and practice by hiding from our dogs as they learn this vital skill. What better way to practice finding a kid than to find a real-life one?

Evan’s enthusiasm, pride, and commitment to our pups always blow me away. He remembers every dog, their backstory, and gets upset when he learns about the abuse they’ve suffered, often checking back in to make sure they’re doing better. The dogs Evan has trained have saved lives and will continue to do so, just as Evan has made a difference in the lives of our dogs.

There’s something pretty special about watching Evan work with these dogs. Every one of them has a story. Some were neglected, some were abused, and some were simply written off because somebody decided they weren’t good enough. They’ve had their share of challenges, but here they are, learning to trust again and preparing to do things that will make a difference in somebody else’s life.

Evan knows a thing or two about overcoming challenges himself. He’s faced things that would be enough to make a lot of people give up, but he keeps showing up.

His whole life he's been told of all the things he can't do by the experts, just like our dogs. Maybe that’s why he and our dogs understand each other so well. They don’t see what the other has been through as a reason to count them out. They just see a friend. Huge thanks to Absorb Studios for capturing these great shots

Memento mori- Remember you will die.

It is an old stoic idea that our time here is limited. It's a phrase I think about a lot when doing this gets harder than I ever thought it would be. Because there are days when Redemption Ranch takes a lot from me.

Time, money, travel, training, vet appointments, late night phone calls, or desperate pleas from shelters with dogs who are out of time. It's an emotional investment that doesn’t just shut off because training is over for the day. All of this while the "experts" tell you again and again at every turn "you can't do this with pound dogs." And that means times where I wonder if the gamble was worth it.

But then I think about the dogs who owe their lives to this program.

One month from now another class will begin. In it will be dogs who by the odds shouldn’t be alive. Dogs who were abandoned or unwanted, or sitting in shelters with a ticking clock. Dogs the world had already written off.

But our dogs beat the odds and now they’re about to step into greatness.

There is a flip side of the phrase Memento Mori which is Memento Vivere- Remember to live.

These dogs don’t give a damn about the odds and they don’t care what their bloodline says. They don’t care that somebody decided they weren’t worth much. They wake up and live.

They chase their ball, they run, they learn. With no hesitation they give everything they’ve got to the life in front of them. And THAT is why I wont ever walk away from this.

Because at some point, you have to decide what kind of life you’re going to live. You can take the safe road, keep your head down and protect yourself from failure- Never risking too much. But at some point you need to decide what your hill is, and then climb it. And when it gets tough I remind myself of the old adage that "A man does not ask the mountain to be shorter"

This program is my hill, and these dogs are the ones I will always fight for. I have seen where they came from, and I have seen them go on to save missing children, get guns and drugs off the streets and protect communities from dangerous criminals. I have seen them be the reason a child who has been victimized is able to smile again.

Memento mori. Our time is limited. Memento vivere. So live. Take the shot. Bet on the impossible.

And when you find the hill worth dying on, don’t apologize for standing on it. I've got mine, and I'm dug in and I will not back down. We will hold to the last dog, last chance or last dollar we have.

So if you still want to tell me it can’t be done, come on.

Come try to take this hill.
