🥾🏕️ Troop 531 wrapped up Backpacking Month with a trip to Haigler Creek outside of Payson! 🌲🏞️

The Scouts had a great time enjoying the water and exploring the creek — including catching crawdads 🦞 and trying their hand at fishing 🎣!

Mr. Chartier landed an excellent brown trout 🐟, and several of the boys got to eat trout for the very first time! 🔥🍽️

The Scouts also learned more about filtering water 💧, got additional practice with cooking over an open campfire 🔥, and, of course, had plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors and make some memories together!

Another great adventure for Troop 531! 💪🥾🏕️

🦅 Eagle Service Project! 💪🌵

Prajith led a large group of volunteers in an incredible cleanup effort along the Salt River in Phoenix, collecting more than 300 pounds of trash! 🗑️🌊

This project was completed as part of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP), which encourages community members to help clean up waterways and areas that provide important habitat for wildlife. 🌿🐦

What an awesome example of leadership, service, and giving back to our community! 🙌

🦅 Congratulations to Troop 531’s newest Eagle Scout — Rowan! 🦅

Rowan started his Scouting journey in Cub Scouts, earning the Arrow of Light, and continued to reach new heights in Troop 531.

Along the way, Rowan earned 41 merit badges, camped 60 nights, hiked more than 68 miles, and completed over 120 hours of service. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow and stays active in his school band. 🎶🏕️🥾

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Rowan led a team of volunteers in constructing six beautiful flag retirement boxes that are now housed at Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical stations. 🇺🇸🔥

What an incredible accomplishment and a great example of leadership and service!

🥩🔥 You gotta have STEAKS at a camping trip where the theme is COOKING, right?! 😋⛺️

Troop 531 headed north for a cooler-weather camping weekend focused on sharpening their outdoor cooking skills! 👨‍🍳🔥

From unique meals cooked over the campfire 🍳🥘 to an epic dessert competition 🍪🍫, the Scouts put their creativity and cooking skills to the test!

What a fun weekend! 🙌 Great job, Troop 531! 👏⚜️

🐾🦅 Eagle Scout Service Project! 🦅🐾

Great job to Arshvir, who led a group of volunteers in building a new play area for sick and recovering cats at Fearless Kitty Rescue! 🐱❤️

Fearless Kitty Rescue is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving homes for cats in need. What a great way to serve the community and make a difference for these animals! 🛠️🐈

Eagle Scout Project Preparation 🦅

At Troop 531, Scouts who are planning their Eagle Service Project have the opportunity to present their project at our Troop Parents Committee meeting. It’s a great experience that allows them to practice presenting to a group of adults, answer questions, receive feedback and suggestions, and ultimately seek approval from the committee.

Tonight, Evan presented his Eagle project, which will benefit the Phoenix Police Department. 👮‍♂️🇺🇸 Even more fitting, Evan has an interest in becoming a police officer someday!

After Evan’s presentation, the Troop 531 Parents Committee continued with our meeting—and, of course, enjoyed a delicious meal together! 🍽️

Great work, Evan! Keep pushing toward that Eagle! 🦅👏

Cooking Month: Mission Accomplished! 👨‍🍳🔥🏕️

Troop 531 wrapped up Cooking Month with a fun rotation of hands-on training stations led by our awesome Scoutmasters: Mr. Wilson, Mr. Lamkin, Mr. Hanson, Mr. Stevens, Mr. Chartier, and Mr. Stecker! 👏

Scouts rotated through stations covering:
🍽️ Meal Planning
🔥 Cast Iron Cooking
🌡️ Cooking Temperatures
🔪 Knife Skills
🧼 Food Safety
🍰 And everyone’s favorite… DESSERT IDEAS! 😋

A huge THANK YOU to our Scoutmasters for sharing their skills and making the night a success! And great job to the Troop 531 PLC for planning another fun, hands-on and interactive night! 💪⚜️

Troop 531 is proud to recognize Arden as our newest Eagle Scout! 🇺🇸

Arden currently serves as the troop’s Senior Patrol Leader, and his leadership journey has included serving as an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Chaplain’s Aide. He is also a proud member of the Order of the Arrow (OA). 🔥🏹

His dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving others are a great example of what Scouting is all about.
