Drexel University Gospel Choir

Drexel University Gospel Choir A music ensemble in the performing arts program of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design at Drexel University. Established 1978.

In the Spring Term of 1978, Vashti “Tina” Gorham, a freshman at Drexel University, was asked by a group of her peers to organize and direct a gospel choir. After four weeks of rehearsing, a group of zealous and musically inclined students presented themselves by faith to the then Drexel Music Department and were accepted as the Drexel University Gospel Choir. Since its founding the choir has been

blessed with two anointed Directors, the founder Vashti “Tina” Gorham (1978 – 1985) and Rev. Gregory Ross (1985 – present), both of whom has spoken volumes to the members of the choir in various ways. Each Thursday evening when the choir comes together for rehearsal, it always includes worshipping and praising the Lord through prayer, Scripture and testimony. After Thirty one years, our desire to lift the name of Jesus has not changed. As summarized from the words of the Psalmist David: Oh Magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt his name forever! Psalm 34:3
