Entries are due this Friday!
Is your student an artist, photographer, writer, dancer, filmmaker, or musician? Or maybe they simply have a creative idea they would love to share?
Our PTA is excited to participate in the National PTA Reflections Arts Program, and we're looking for students who want to create and submit an original work of art!
🎨 This Year's Theme:
“What My Culture Means to Me”
Culture can mean many different things. It can include family traditions, food, music, language, holidays, ancestry, places, values, people, memories, or even the community around us.
Students are encouraged to interpret the theme in their own way and share what culture means to them.
🌟 Who Can Participate?
Reflections is open to students in:
• Pre-K–2nd Grade — Primary
• 3rd–5th Grade — Intermediate
• 6th–8th Grade — Middle School
• 9th–12th Grade — High School
An Accessible Arts Division is also available for students with disabilities who may receive services under IDEA or Section 504.
🎭 What Can Students Create?
Students may enter one or more of the following categories:
Dance Choreography
Create an original dance inspired by the theme.
Film Production
Create an original short film that explores the theme.
Literature
Write an original poem, story, essay, or other literary work.
Music Composition
Create an original piece of music inspired by the theme.
Photography
Use an original photograph to communicate your interpretation of the theme.
Visual Arts
Create an original drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, or mixed-media artwork.
Students do not have to be professional artists. Reflections is about creativity, personal expression, and how each student interprets the theme.
Where Can Their Artwork Go?
Reflections is a multi-level program!
Our PTA will collect and review entries at the school level. Selected entries may advance through Colorado PTA for additional recognition.
From there, qualifying state-level entries may advance to National PTA, where student artwork is reviewed by arts professionals from across the country.
National PTA recognizes more than 200 student artists each year.
There Are National Scholarships!
National-level recognition includes:
🏅 Award of Merit
Bronze medal + certificate + virtual exhibition
🥈 Award of Excellence
$200 Young Artist Scholarship + silver medal + certificate + virtual exhibition
🥇 Outstanding Interpretation Award
$800 Young Artist Scholarship + gold medal + certificate + virtual exhibition
Plus, the student's local PTA receives a $200 prize.
