Pets Alive WNY Formerly known as Buffalo Humane, Pets Alive WNY expanded to Niagara County in 2011

Our mission is to promote and protect the health, safety, and welfare of pets and people by taking in and placing homeless companion animals, encouraging and supporting spay/neuter, providing community outreach to ensure proper animal stewardship, and promoting rational and effective animal care and control policies at all levels of government.

Our handsome Leo would like to know how come all those little panthers are getting all the love? Where are his tabby people at?! 🐯❤️

Leo was rescued from a homeowner’s garage, where he and his siblings had little to no human contact during their first several weeks of life. They started out as scared little babies, but thanks to a dedicated foster, Leo began to blossom into the sweet boy he is today! 🩷

Now, Leo is everything a kitten should be: sweet, purry, playful, and ready to bring lots of love into someone’s life! 🥰 He’s come such a long way, and all that’s missing now is someone to see just how special he is and choose him! ❤️

Leo would do best in a home where he has another young kitty companion, or better yet, he can go home with one of his equally adorable siblings, Luca, Lucy or Charlotte! 💞

Sweet Sonja was abandoned in an apartment building when her owner moved out 😿 Through no fault of her own, she found herself starting over, and sadly, life in the shelter hasn't been easy on this beautiful girl 🥺

Sonja has high blood pressure and needs daily medication, but the good news is that it's inexpensive, and she's even gracious enough to take it mixed into a teaspoon of baby food! She also struggles with chronic conjunctivitis, which requires frequent eye cleaning. But considering everything she's been through, she's actually quite tolerant of the whole routine!

When Sonja first arrived, she was a gentle little lap cat. But as the years have passed, the stress of shelter life has taken its toll, and she's become more withdrawn. It feels like her little light has slowly dimmed, and we are just dying to see it shine again 😭

We know the right person is out there somewhere. Someone kind, someone patient. Someone who understands that sometimes the cats who need us most are the ones who take a little extra time to come out of their shells 🩷

✨ Sonja does wonderfully with other cats and would thrive in a calm, quiet home where she can finally relax and feel safe. She doesn't need a perfect life. She just needs someone willing to give her a chance at a better one 🙏

Please don't overlook Sonja because she has a few extra needs or isn't the outgoing girl she once was. We believe there's still so much love inside that little heart, just waiting for the right person to help her feel like herself again 🥹

When Belle was dumped, she was absolutely covered in fleas and severely allergic to them. The itching was so intense that she scratched and scratched until she had scabs all over her body and literally itched away much of her beautiful fur 😭

But despite everything she’s been through, Belle has been nothing but sweet to us since day one. She’s affectionate, purry, gentle, and somehow still completely trusting of people 🥹

As her skin heals and her fur grows back, we have a feeling this girl is going to be an absolutely gorgeous medium-haired beauty. But honestly, her personality is what really makes her beautiful! 🥰

Belle isn’t a huge fan of other cats, so she’d love nothing more than to be the queen of her very own castle where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves!

After such a rough start, this sweet girl deserves a soft place to land and a family who will show her just how good life can be! 💞

We're sorry to interrupt your Monday morning doom scrolling, but these little nuggets are eating us out of house and home! 😂🖤

As many of you already know, we have EIGHT six-week-old black kittens who apparently believe their full-time job is to eat. And eat. And eat some more! 🤪

We hate to ask because you guys have been SO incredibly generous with food donations lately, and we truly appreciate every single one! ❤️ But we’re desperately low on both Friskies pate and Friskies gravy right now 😬

If you’re able to toss a few cans our way, it would be so incredibly appreciated and would help keep these little piranhas happily fed! 🐈‍⬛

Mini panther update! They just got a vaccine update, deworming and weight check. They are all growing and doing fantastic! They decided to throw it back to the early 2000’s and don some Twilight themed names! 🌙🧛🧛‍♀️❤️

Luca and his four siblings were born in a homeowner's garage to a feral mama who had to leave them each day to hunt for food. With little to no human contact during their first several weeks, they were understandably terrified when they were rescued 🥺

But in foster care, they were given something incredibly important: time, patience, and love. And little by little, Luca has learned that people can be trusted ❤️

Luca is still a little shy and may need a little time to adjust in his forever home, but once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines through. He's purry, playful, and affectionate! And did we forget to mention his big, adorable Disney-esque eyes?! 😍

He'll need a home with another young kitty friend to be his companion, or even better, he could go home with one of his siblings Leo, Charlotte, or Lucy! 💞

Some kittens are born knowing that people are safe. Luca had to learn it. Now he just needs someone willing to give him the time and love to keep blossoming 🌺

Perdu had been in and out of our shelter since 2019. He had been adopted twice and returned twice, and when he came back to us this last time, we knew something was very wrong 💔
Not only was Perdu at an extremely unhealthy weight, but his personality had completely changed. The outgoing, lovable boy we all knew had seemingly disappeared. He was completely shut down and wouldn't even leave his kennel 😭

And then, someone special came along...
It was love at first sight for Perdu's person, but she didn't expect him to instantly become the cat he once was. Instead, she simply showed up for him. Week after week, for several months, she visited Perdu, sat with him, talked to him, brushed him and let him know that someone cared ❤️

And slowly, almost imperceptibly, Perdu began to come back...🥹

First, he started venturing out of his kennel. Then he began greeting visitors. Before long, he was asking for pets (and, of course, treats!) just like the Perdu we remembered. We could see that little spark returning to his eyes and a little more pep in his step! 😊

And then came the best part...
His person, who had become his safe place, decided to make it official and adopt Perdu! 💓
Now he has something he desperately needed all along: a person who understands him, a place where he feels safe, and the promise that he will always be loved 💞

This is why we keep going. For every heartbreaking day, there are days like this. Days when a cat who seemed lost finds his way back to himself. Days when someone sees the cat underneath the fear and shutdown and chooses to wait for him.

Those are the days that make all the difficult days worth it.

From running across Bear Ridge Road as a tiny little kitten to finding her very own forever family… Gabbi’s journey has officially come full circle! 💞

Gabbi is known around here for her absolutely adorable little toad-like croak, her silly antics, and, of course her ridiculously good looks that make it impossible not to fall in love with her! 🐸💕 She’s one of those kitties who keeps everyone smiling, and we’re so happy she finally found her people!

And Gabbi won’t be the only kitty in her new home! She’ll have three kitty siblings to play with, chase around, and undoubtedly drive just a little crazy! 😅

We couldn’t be more excited for this wonderful little family! ❤️

We are SO happy to share that Vera & Murphy have gone to their furever home together! 🥹🐾

These two may not be biological siblings, but you certainly wouldn’t know it by watching them play together! They found each other here and quickly became two peas in a pod and now they get to spend the rest of their lives together! 💕

Vera’s story started when she was the last kitten left in her litter and was being given away outside a supermarket. She was about to be dumped in the parking lot when a kind person stepped in and made sure she got to safety 🥺

Murphy had a very different beginning. He was born in a homeowner’s garage and had very little human contact during his first several weeks of life. Thankfully, a loving foster home gave him the patience, care and confidence he needed to blossom into the sweet boy he is today 🥰

Somehow, these two found each other and now they’ve found something even better: their furever family! 🏡💕

Happy tails, Vera & Murphy! We’re so happy you get to grow up together! 😍
