Making Strides Youth Ranch, Inc.

Making Strides Youth Ranch, Inc. MSYR is a nonprofit for mentoring At-Risk and other youth. Sessions partner a leader, horse, and rancher for 90 min each week.

Sessions include chores, horses, and activities and focus on self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and more. Making Strides Youth Ranch, Inc is an equine based program that seeks to assist youth by pairing them with an adult mentor and horse in sessions that span a 12 week period. Weekly sessions are ninety minutes and are tailored to meet the needs of the individual. The purpose

of the program is to utilize the horse and mentor relationship to assist the youth in decision making and social emotional well-being, as well as to address needs exposed throughout sessions. Faith-based sessions are an option and point our ranchers to Jesus through scripture, conversation, and prayer. Making Strides seeks to include the family unit as permitted to address overall family needs that may be contributing to the undesirable or delinquent behavior. It is our desire to present a program that will help each youth make improved life choices!

F ‘26 Week #2 sessions #5-6

FAITH FOCUS
Ms Brenda led devotions again focusing on a Biblical way to handle anxiety.

Philippians 4:6-7
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Main Ideas in the Verses:
Stop worrying: Do not let fear or stress control you.
Pray instead: Turn every problem into a prayer.
Be thankful: Remember to thank God for what He has already done while asking for help.
Receive God’s peace: A special peace that makes no logical sense will guard your thoughts and emotions.

CHORES:
This evening, we cleaned chicken coops, collected eggs, and fed/watered chickens, ducks, and horses. We’re learning that things just don’t take care of themselves!

HORSES:
Flicka was the star today! She patiently allowed our two ranchers to lead her around. Ranchers and their human mentors had opportunities to begin bonding through discussion and spending time together.

ACTIVITIES:
Today’s kiddos enjoyed loving on the chickens. We lost one and had to bury it, so that was a sad time.

DONATIONS
We received another donation from Mrs Nathalie Russell! A much needed additional first aid kit was delivered this afternoon.

Yummy snacks were given out before we ended our time together.

HORSES/ACTIVITIES
Diamond, Jordan, Flicka, and Rocky were awesome mentors today. They enjoyed getting bathed, but first they allowed their ranchers to paint what makes them anxious on their sides. Ranchers and their human mentors had opportunities to begin bonding through discussion and spending time together.

DONATIONS
We received a generous donation from Mrs Nathalie Russell today! A new helmet, craft project supplies, and horse supplies!

Yummy snacks were given out before we ended our time together.
