GIRLS BASKETBALL: Pekin's Cady Covert and Amiya O'Neal were named to the 2025-2026 All-Mid-Illini Conference Second Team. Covert played in 30 of the Dragons' 31 games (she missed one game for family reasons), shot 41% from the field, averaged 9.4 points per game, grabbed 125 rebounds and had 41 steals. O'Neal shot 40% from the field, had a team-high 175 rebounds and 16 blocked shots in 31 games. Pekin has not had a First Team all-conference selection in girls basketball since Gracie Kizer in the 2021-22 season.

Today we hosted our end of season banquet. I would like to thank all of our Bulldogs families, players and coaches for another successful season.

I hope to have information on the future of the program in the near future snd will ensure to share on this page.

Thank you to the staff of the Boys & Girls Club of Pekin for their assistance and for allowing us to continue the program and to keep it affordable so we could ensure to keep it open to all..

Also a thank you to our coaches: Brett McGinnis and Josh Norman for 6th / Andrew Bollinger and Nate Springer for 5th / Matt Ericson and Kurt Glesne for 3rd/4th. Without these coaches volunteering their time and talents we would not have been able to sustain the program and I know I speak for the players and families when I say... THANK YOU !!!!

Some former Bulldogs. Great job ladies.

The SMOKE go 4-1 on the weekend and claim second place at the John Welsh Memorial Tournament after a hard fought 36-30 battle in the title game to Ball Hogg Academy (Edwardsville).

Looking forward to a great spring and summer season!

Congratulations on not just a great season but a great career as Bulldogs to our 6th grade girls. They went 3-0 to win their pool before coming up just short in a good semi-final game at the John Welsh Memorial Basketball Tournament .

This is an amazing group of girls with a very bright future ahead of them.

Our 6th grade girls went 2-0 on Saturday and a bunch of our former Bulldogs now in 7th grade playing for the Mid Illini Smoke 13u Select also had great success today. Good luck to both teams tomorrow at the John Welsh Memorial Tournament in Lincoln.
