Did you know? Texas’ Move Over or Slow Down law also includes Animal Control Officer vehicles.

First responders and roadside workers put themselves at risk every day, and drivers can help keep them safe by simply moving over or slowing down.

Animal Control Officers often work just feet away from fast-moving traffic, putting them at risk of serious injury or death if a crash occurs. That risk increases when drivers are speeding, distracted, or not paying attention.

Since September 1, 2025, Texas’ Move Over or Slow Down law has been expanded to include vehicles operated by Animal Control Officers.

When approaching a covered vehicle stopped on the side of the road with activated overhead lights:

• Move over an entire lane when possible.
• If you cannot safely move over, slow down 20 mph below the posted speed limit.
• On roadways with a posted speed limit of 25 mph or less, slow down to 5 mph.
• Stay alert, put down the distractions, and give roadside workers plenty of space.

Move Over. Slow Down. Help Keep Those Who Protect and Serve Our Communities Safe.

🐾💚 HEARTWORM TREATMENT FOSTERS NEEDED! 💚🐾

We have 6 amazing dogs getting ready to begin heartworm treatment on October 30th, and they need a cozy place to rest and recover! 🏡❤️

Meet Chippy, Chrom, Romeo, Clyde, Jax, and Big Girl! 🐶

✨ The good news? ALL SIX DOGS ARE DOG-FRIENDLY! ✨

These pups just need a safe, loving place to land for at least 30 days while they recover from treatment. A little space on your couch, a comfy dog bed, and some love can make a HUGE difference in their healing journey! 💕

Fostering gives these dogs the chance to rest outside the shelter, recover comfortably, and get one step closer to finding their forever homes.

❤️ Interested in fostering? Send us a message today! Even if you can't foster, please SHARE this post to help us find the perfect homes for these deserving dogs!

Six dogs. Six chances to heal. Be their safe place. 🐾💚
