Hey scout families!

Ryan and Milo had a wildly successful morning of popcorn sales, pulling in almost $600 in sales in one shift, and with that popcorn sales (our most critical fundraiser for the scouting year) are open for the season!

Here’s everything (hopefully) you need to know for this year’s popcorn sales:

📲 First order of business is to download the Trail’s End app. This is the tech that drives all of our sales during storefront and personal sales. After downloading you’ll need to register and account for your scout (if you already sold in a previous year your account will already exist). I highly recommend downloading the app and getting a little familiar before getting out to the selling location. Link to the Apple Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/trails-end/id1421483087
📆 After getting all set up on the app, you can start grabbing shifts in the Trail’s End app! First scheduled locations are available beginning Friday night 9/18 and through Sunday 9/20. More shifts will become available so keep an eye out. Locations will vary as we add and remove approved spots.
📍Prepared popcorn bins are hosted by AOL den leader Mr. Terry this year, at 24 School St in Salem. If you are signed up for a shift in the app, a bin will be prepared for you with your name on it. Included in the bin will be an instruction sheet, a table cloth, a cash bag with $50 starting change, a donation jar, a price list, and all the popcorn you’ll need for your shift.
🍿Once you’ve collected everything and arrived at your location you can start selling popcorn at the time your shift is scheduled to start. All sales (cash and credit) need to be recorded in the app, and your phone will act as a tap to pay credit card reader. Donations do not need to be recorded. This part is the kids’ chance to shine! Our scouts love the opportunity to be out there in the community representing themselves and raising funds to support the pack.

Starting this year is a new expectation that all scouts and families participate in this fundraising effort that allows our pack to continue its programming without charging additional fees for individual activities. Those that choose not to participate in at least one popcorn selling shift can instead pay a $200 opt-out fee.

Can’t wait to see everyone next week! I’ll be available while everyone is in their first den meetings next Monday to answer any questions, help download the app, and clarify anything next week!

Yours in scouting,
Cubmaster Liam

Welcome Back, Pack 621!

We are gearing up for another fun year of Scouting! Some housekeeping notes and important dates for the next month:

* All den / pack meetings take place at Bishop Fenwick from 6:30-7:30 on Mondays unless otherwise noted. Please park in the back and enter through the Atrium doors.
* Our first den meetings will be Monday, September 14th, 6:30-7:30!
* Peabody Public Schools has no school on Monday September 21st (Yom Kippur), so we will instead have a Rolling, Recruiting Rally, exact time and location TBD. Bring your bikes, scooters, skates, and helmets, and any friends you think might be interested in joining our Pack! Scouts can earn a Recruiting Patch if they successfully recruit a friend to scouts (at this event or anytime throughout the year). Please no e-bikes or e-scooters; this is a scout-powered event!
* The International Festival in Peabody is on Sunday, September 27th. Look out for signups for you/your cub to work our booth, selling snacks/drinks and promoting Scouting. There will be no den meetings the following day, Monday September 28th.
* Fall is our primary fundraising / Popcorn selling season: more information on that to come, but we are highly encouraging all scouts to participate in our fundraising endeavors this year so that we can support lots of scout trips, campouts, and activities throughout the year without any further financial help from scouting families.

That’s all for now! I’m looking to seeing you and all of your scouts in a few weeks - if you have any questions regarding this scouting year or any of this information, feel free to reach out (978-380-0139).

Yours in Scouting,
Cubmaster Liam

Yesterday a small group of us attended the Worcester Red Sox Scout Overnight. Had a great time watching the game, then we set up camp in the outfield and watched “Angels in the Outfield” on the big screen before turning in for the night. Reveille at 6am with breakfast at 7am. Great time for everyone!

Hi everyone!

Campout is coming up tomorrow! Weather is looking a little warm, but otherwise great. No rain in the forecast.

Please arrive any time after 12:00. When approaching the camp, please keep it around 5mph, the camp road is an easement through a neighbors property. I’d like to go on a short (1.5 mi) hike around 2:00 in the Wilmington town forest, accessible from the camp site. Dinner will be around 6:00, simple burgers and hot dogs. Morning will bring pancakes, fruit, and bacon.

We’ll have a campfire once the night starts to wind down, so plan ahead to bring some songs, stories, jokes, etc…

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Again, text me at 978-380-0139 with any questions!

-Liam

Happy Fourth of July pack 621 scouts and families!

Next Saturday July 11 is our July campout at Camp 40 Acres in Andover. The camp is a little touchy with GPS, so your best bet is to use the address “171 Woburn St, Andover Ma” to access the driveway road. Once you turn onto the road, keep going a bit down and main parking is on the left. If you reach the house on the right, you’ve gone too far. If we have too
many campers there is an overflow lot, but that lot should be reserved for high-clearance trucks and SUVs.

Please arrive any time after 11:00. We’ll eat dinner around 6:00 (the usual burgers and hot dogs), and provide breakfast on Sunday morning. Please let me know if you or anyone joining you have dietary restrictions.

Can’t wait to see everyone in the woods next weekend! For any questions at all feel free to text me at 978-380-0139

Hope everyone has a safe and fun day today!

-Liam!
