Hey scout families!
Ryan and Milo had a wildly successful morning of popcorn sales, pulling in almost $600 in sales in one shift, and with that popcorn sales (our most critical fundraiser for the scouting year) are open for the season!
Here’s everything (hopefully) you need to know for this year’s popcorn sales:
📲 First order of business is to download the Trail’s End app. This is the tech that drives all of our sales during storefront and personal sales. After downloading you’ll need to register and account for your scout (if you already sold in a previous year your account will already exist). I highly recommend downloading the app and getting a little familiar before getting out to the selling location. Link to the Apple Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/trails-end/id1421483087
📆 After getting all set up on the app, you can start grabbing shifts in the Trail’s End app! First scheduled locations are available beginning Friday night 9/18 and through Sunday 9/20. More shifts will become available so keep an eye out. Locations will vary as we add and remove approved spots.
📍Prepared popcorn bins are hosted by AOL den leader Mr. Terry this year, at 24 School St in Salem. If you are signed up for a shift in the app, a bin will be prepared for you with your name on it. Included in the bin will be an instruction sheet, a table cloth, a cash bag with $50 starting change, a donation jar, a price list, and all the popcorn you’ll need for your shift.
🍿Once you’ve collected everything and arrived at your location you can start selling popcorn at the time your shift is scheduled to start. All sales (cash and credit) need to be recorded in the app, and your phone will act as a tap to pay credit card reader. Donations do not need to be recorded. This part is the kids’ chance to shine! Our scouts love the opportunity to be out there in the community representing themselves and raising funds to support the pack.
Starting this year is a new expectation that all scouts and families participate in this fundraising effort that allows our pack to continue its programming without charging additional fees for individual activities. Those that choose not to participate in at least one popcorn selling shift can instead pay a $200 opt-out fee.
Can’t wait to see everyone next week! I’ll be available while everyone is in their first den meetings next Monday to answer any questions, help download the app, and clarify anything next week!
Yours in scouting,
Cubmaster Liam
